Advantages: Iconic, lasts a long time

Disadvantages: None

Fairy liquid is the only washing up liquid that I will use in my house. I've used other cheaper store brands before and they're fine but there's something about that iconic bottle of Fairy that keeps me coming back for more. Fairy has become so popular and so recognised that in the UK, Fairy Liquid has become a genericized trademark for washing up liquid. That means people would say the word Fairy liquid even if they were talking about any type/brand of washing up liquid much as you would call a vacuum cleaner a Hoover.

According to an article I read, "Fairy is a brand of washing-up liquid produced byProcter & Gamble at their West Thurrock factory (The London Plant), England. Fairy liquid is traditionally green, prompting the well-known advertising jingle "Now hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face, with mild green Fairy Liquid".

Fairy comes in all different colours and smells nowadays and I have tried a number of these but I has to say the green and original coloured Fairy is still my favourite. The liquid is quite thick and gel like and you can use it in a number of ways. I know people who will squeeze some in hot water to wash their dishes but I like to add my Fairy to a washing up sponge and wash the dishes under a running tap. That way I can rinse  the bubbles off the dishes before I dry them.

You only need a little squirt of Fairy in order to produce a sink full of bubbles and it's true what they say in the advertisements, a bottle of Fairy can last for months and hundreds of sinks of washing up. I probably get through a bottle every coupe of months and I wash up at least three times a day.

My hands do get a bit dry with all the washing up I do so I'm not sure it completely protects hands as well as it says it does. It it's still gentle on skin and cleans my dishes perfectly!!
