Advantages: Good washing up liquid, good value, many varieties
Last year I was lucky enough to live in a flat with a dishwasher after three years of having to wash everything by hand. While this was really handy as it was less effort, as well as meaning that dirty crockery and cutlery was kept shut away from the rest of the kitchen, my flatmates and I still always had a bottle of washing up liquid by the sink. It was really useful to still be able to wash things by hand as, since we waited until there was a full load before putting on the dishwasher, there was often something you wanted to use immediately that was still dirty. Sometimes things came out of the dishwasher not perfectly clean as well, and so it was good to be able to give them an extra wash before using them. While we had a few different washing up liquids over the twelve months we were there (and many more in the flats we had previously) we seemed to go for varieties of Fairy liquid more than any other.
== Fairy Liquid ==
Fairy seems to be the most well known brand of washing up liquid in the UK. I imagine this is largely down to its advertising, which I remember being on television quite a lot when I was a child. They also have quite a large presence in a lot of supermarkets and many different varieties as well as being reasonably priced, which probably makes them one of the first choice washing up liquids for most families in the country.
== What I Thought ==
I've always been impressed by Fairy washing up liquids, which is another reason why I am inclined to go for them when purchasing a new liquid. There are a variety of different scents and I've found all of which I've tried to be pleasant. They also lather up well and create a lot of bubbles when added to a sink of water or when applied to a sponge and used on dishes that way. I'm fairly sceptical of how effective a few squirts in several litres of water can be and so I prefer to add a bit to a sponge to ensure the item I'm washing gets a lot of liquid rubbed on it, as then I'm happier that it's cleaner. My dishes always seem to be clean after I use Fairy and I'm usually more convinced that they're dirt free than ones that come out of the dishwasher.
== Conclusion ==
In conclusion, Fairy is a washing up liquid brand that I am very happy to use. They have a good variety of scents, they lather up well and I'm convinced that they do make my dishes and cutlery clean enough. It's also very reasonably priced: Asda are currently selling an 870ml bottle of original Fairy liquid for £2; the same shop has many smaller bottles on 2 for £2.50; and Tesco has many 433/450ml bottles for 2 for £2. When not on offer, they're still good value for money, but I'd recommend striking while the iron's hot and stocking up a few bottles while they're on special offer.
