I've used Fairy liquid off and on over the years. It's always done its job well, much better than everything else that I've tried on the market. Persil liquid comes a close second that I will buy if; on the rare occasions that Fairy is out of stock in any of the shops I visit. But on the whole Fairy is my washing up hero.

I must admit that I don't like the new bottle shape at all, but then the old style had that old familiarity that I like to cling to,but that's a minor gripe really,it's what's inside it that counts. These days everything else seems to follow suit and sometimes it's difficult to tell between the various brands that flood the supermarket shelves when in a hurry. Cheaper washing up liquids are all very well, but they are usually a false economy as they leave a greasy film behind and for me doing the dishes once is quite enough thank you!

One thing I've noticed with the latest design is that the detergent itself seems to be a lot thinner. It still does the job its intended for, but doesn't seem quite as rich as it once was. The suds and bubbles don't stick around as much as they used to and I find that I do use it up a lot more quickly, refreshing my bowl of washing up more often than I would like to. I know I'm a tight little swine but I do like getting value for money.

I remember the old adverts featuring Nanette Newman, thimble of Fairy in hand proudly announcing how much you could get clean for your money. There's absolutely no chance of that these days and yet they describe it on the bottle as longest lasting ever!

I tend to stick to the original green although there are a few whiffy fragranced varieties around if you like that kind of thing. (Lemon, strawberry, anti-bacterial etc.) I have tried some of them but they're not for me, as the smell of them is a bit too overpowering for my liking which usually gives me a headache and whatever they have added
to the formula to make the fragrance makes my hands itch like mad.

Despite my little moans and gripes I still consider this to be the best on the market, not as good as it used to be, but still the best. After all the green original variety of fairy liquid doesn't irritate my skin and it does a fine job on the dishes, it is also especially good at cutting through grease on your pots and pans.

There's not a lot of information on the bottle regarding ingredients just 5-15% non-ionic surfactants, 15-30% anionic surfactants.

If it was in its previous form I would have given it five stars but because of the recent changes in the bottle shape, size and thinner liquid, its only getting four stars from me.

Oh and by the way if you have any jewellery that needs a clean, pop it in a bowl with some fairy liquid, leave it overnight and rinse it off in the morning - it comes up sparkling!

I use the apple one. This is the first time I have tried it and I feel I do have to use quite a lot to get a good foam.
