‘For hands that do dishes that feel as soft as your face, mild green fairy liquid’
Fairy Liquid has been about for absolute aeons, but it has changed beyond belief over the years. Remember we had Nanette Newman extolling the virtues of Fairy, and how such a little drop goes a long way – challenging various groups (boy scouts to cricket teams) to wash dishes firstly with a brand leader and then Fairy – which of course always came out tops.
Usually l buy an own brand washing up liquid – it’s cheaper and the results are just as good. So picture if you will, me meandering around the aisles of Tescos, when l come across a display of the new brand of Fairy Liquid Products.
Besides the original mild green fairy liquid and the anti-bac ranges they have now introduced a luxury range of new fragrances, including Floral Breeze and Apple.
Well l needed more washing up liquid, and this was on special offer (lm a sucker for bargains!) so l thought I’ll give it a whirl. It was priced at 99p for 125ml (although it normally retails for £1.09). Fairy is generally more expensive that other ranges available and the own brand ranges.
The Fairy bottles have had an upgrade of late, instead of the bog standard bottle they are now all curvy and see-through. I could even go as far as saying that perhaps they are even seen as being sexy! The see-through bottle is much better though – you can now see when you need to replace it. Also for all those poor kids out there, who are waiting on the bottle emptying it’s a much less painful wait too!
So, l picked up a bottle of Floral Breeze, which is a pinky red in colour. I finished my shopping, paid for the goods and trotted off home.
So does it work?
A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY
Yes it does. Just a little squirt and you have a bowl filled with frothy bubbles. So, although Fairy is
relatively more expensive than others available, it does last quite a long time so it is value for money.
IT LEAVES YOUR CUTLERY SPARKLING & GLIDES THROUGH GREASE
Fairy generally does clean plate’s etc quite well, but you do have to wash them. It’s not simply a matter of dipping them into the frothy bubbles and by some miracle they come out clean (l did try this when l was younger and living at home – needless to say my mum made me do them again!). As for the grease and burnt bits – again you do in to put a bit of elbow work to ensure these bits are removed. Really, Fairy is no worse or no better than other leading brands.
THAT NEW FRAGRANACE
The Floral Breeze Fairy smells awful. I can only comment on this fragrance but it really is quite bad – sickly sweet. At present lm only ¼ of the way through the bottle - but rest assured because of the smell l will not be putting Floral Breeze Fairy into my shopping trolley again!
THE FINAL THOUGHTS
Fairy Liquid has been around for a long time, and is what you could cal a market leader. The product is fine - it does what it is supposed to. One thing l did find out whilst researching for this opinion, Fairy is manufactured by Proctor & Gamble, who test their products on animals. Previously, l was not aware of this – l shall now think twice before purchasing any of their products again.
