Advantages: Good value, great cleaning performance, very long lasting
Disadvantages: The pink one smells like sick
I used to be a Persil girl, every day I would wash my grubby dishes that was welded with last nights dinner on it, in nothing other than Persil, one because it did the job really well and two because I liked the range of fragrances available. I am sorry to say to Persil but the divorce is final, not because you don't do a great job or that you don't smell very nice, because you do, but I spotted a sexy purple bottle of Fairy Liquid being advertised on my TV, in a slinky looking bottle, with new fragrances to fill my kitchen with a new and fresh aroma. Ever since Fairy had a new face lift and launched their all new aromatics range, with new shaped bottles made with clear plastic (easier to spot when your liquid running low), sexy colours to brighten up any kitchen and fragrances to die for, I have not stopped buying Fairy since. The old Fairy as most of us will remember was kind of plain and boring, which came in original fragrance or lemon, so a big well done to Fairy (Procter & Gamble) for introducing a fresh idea for all us scrubber uppers. The bottle ----------- The bottle is constructed of strong clear plastic, ideal for giving you an indicated of when to get some more. The shape can only be described as slinky, kind of like a dress makers dummy, minus the boobs, and I have to say is much easier to grip in comparison to the old round and bulky bottle (which could be beneficial to those who find big, round, bulky items difficult to handle, for medical reasons or otherwise). The cap is pretty good too, easy to flip up with just a push with your thumb and what's more, all the gunk I used to accumulate every time I squirted a bit of liquid in my sink from my previous version/brands as now been reduced significantly, with the signs of gunk on a nearly used up bottle are minimal. The fragrances ---------------- Purple Herbal: I have to say I am ve
ry pleased with the fragrance of the purple bottle (Purple Herbal). The smell is fairly strong but not so much that it taints the dishes in any way; it has a floral hint to it, but in a way that I would associate with flowers of the wild variety. Where some smells can get up your nose, leaving your nose twitching and dying to sneeze, this one I am happy to say doesn't, in fact its kind of relaxing aroma in a way and there's nothing worse than not feeling relaxed doing the dishes, that's how accidents happen, what with shape knives and glasses, being relaxed whilst doing the dishes can make all the difference to cutting your hands and not cutting them. Floral Breeze: Well what can I say about this one? This fragrance comes in a cerise pink colour, which is very fetching but as for the fragrance, I didn't like it one bit. The smell is a kind of sickly smell, one that I would associate with the contents of the toilet after a night out on the town, not very nice at all and further more perhaps a little too overwhelming for my liking. Springfresh Apple Blossom: I have to say I have not tried this one yet, but I do know it comes in a lovely green, very bright, bold and striking a bit like the boxes on JOHNDMR's tooyoo guestbook (don't forget to wear your sunglasses). With it being of the apple fragrance, I am sure that if it does smell anything like apples then I am certain to try this one, I love the smell of apples, I have the apple smelling moose and hairspray to prove it. Lemon Zest: I am not a great lover of lemon, taste, smell or colour, so I haven't really took any notice what colour this one is, but with lemon being lemon it is bound to be yellow, but I am sure there are many people out there who adore the scent of lemons. Performance -------------- Impressive, despite the fact that the liquid is slightly runny and not as thick
as the original form it still does an excellent job and tackles most of our grubby dishes without the need of soaking. I have not yet come across a dish that was beyond the capabilities of our Fairy but would also be lying if I said I have never needed to soak any dishes in advance, prior to doing the washing up. There are some times, come the evening, the kids are all tucked away safely in bed, and the dishes sit on the side waiting to be done and quite simply I can't be bothered, so they get left till the morning. So you can probably imagine how welded on the leftover traces of food end out come the morning, a little pre-soak of a couple of minutes eases the dirt away, taking the time a stress out of dish washing, where as before, prior to using Fairy there was the odd occasion where some difficult to clean dishes needed to be soaked over night before I could even begin to try and clean them. I particularly liked the result I got when using this on greasy dishes, I found just a little bit of Fairy added to hot water lifted the grease away easily, without leaving my dishes feeling like they are left with a slimy residue. Value ------ I am sure most will be familiar with cheap brands of washing-up-liquid, the ones in the big huge bottles that look like they would last for all eternality, well they don't, sure they are cheap, but they don't come close to the cleaning performance of Fairy, or last any where near as long as Fairy either. While Fairy is 88p for a 500ml bottle (at Tesco's) and cheaper brands for as little as 20p, I have found from experience that the cheaper ones are so watery and only last for a week or two if your lucky, but our bottle of Fairy as lasted us for well over 7 weeks and still have a quarter of it's contents left, which for me is good as I tend to wash dishes normally twice a day, along with a separate wash too for all our baby bottles. Conclusion ----
-------- What more could a girl want (apart from a new wardrobe full of clothes, a brand spanking new sports car and a dream home), it may be that little bit more initially but I have found it to be economical in the long run as a little squirt really does go a long way. Performance is nothing less than what I would expect from a long established company, I have been very pleased with the result of my sparkly clean dishes, ever since using Fairy, so far so good, no dish of mine has yet defeated the cleaning power to date. Oh, and last but not least the purple one does really smell so delicious.
