Advantages: works for the most part
Disadvantages: pricey, need to use more than they let on
I cant believe Im sat writing an op about washing up liquid. I used to think that these kinds of ops were best left to the middle aged members who've used every liquid on the shelf - twice. But since I moved out of my parents house 2 months ago into my own little pad, Ive had to learn all about the joys of washing, cooking, cleaning..you name it. My parents always varied the washing up liquids they used. And since I did the dishes every night I got to see which ones worked well and which ones didnt. Fairy liquid never impressed me, even in its array or pretty colours and scents. So Im not entirely sure then, why I chose to buy Fairy when I moved out. My boyfriends parents made us loads of boxes up of essentials, like pasta and rice and washing powder tablet thingy majigs... and a bottle of Fairy. It was one of those large bottles that contains 750ml. I think the smaller ones are 500ml. Anyway the bottle lasted about 2 weeks. Which might sound good, but we only eat 1 meal a day in the house so theres only one small lot of washing up a day. So surely, the Fairy liquid thats advertised to last longer than any other should have done us for much more than 14 lots of dishes. Lets do some maths....750ml, used 14 times, so 750 divided by 14 is ....53.571428571....etc. Which works out at something like 1/15th of the bottle a go..no wait we've already said that, so that means the percentage is something like 13 - 15% ...no its too hard. I think my brains gonna explode. Anyway, the point is, allegedly longer lasting Fairy isnt longer lasing. So use less then? Nope. I dont feel its working unless there are a ton of bubbles, so for me, no bubbles, no workie, so I squirt more in til my washing up bowl is nice and white and fluffy. So anyway, my free bottle of Fairy ran out and I went and bought another bottle. Same deal, Ive tried varying the type of Fairy, to no avail. I need more bubbles god dam
mit! Im currently on Fairy Naturals, the Eucalypus Antibac stuff. Its a very fetching shade of blue, and thats the only reason that Ive bought 2 bottles of it. It smells a little bit like eucalyptus, and the bottle has a mini fact on the back about the eucalyptus plant - which Im not going to give away - go read a bottle in the supermarket. I used to love the Fairy ads when I was a kid. The mummy washing the dishes and coming out with silky soft hands, then rubbing bubbles in her kids face - nice! Lets all sing together.....'Mild greeeen, fairy liquiiiiiid' Ahhh Anyway, back to business. As far as cleaning dishes is concerned. Fairy does cut through grease if you use enough of it. And I will give it some credit. When you dribble little bits of tough to shift baked on bits of food and leave it for half an hour, it really does just slide right off. Yummy. Theres nothing mild OR green about modern day Fairy. Oh no. The gentle loving formula of the 80's has been replaced by an ezcema aggravating one, forcing me to prance about in pikn rubber gloves like a *much* younger version of that horrible massively tall women off 'How Clean Is Your House' - Very thank you, how clean is YOURS? It actually says on the back of the bottle nowadays, that sensitive skinned people should wear gloves. Like most things in our homes, Fairy is made by Procter & Gamble. So if you have a complaint, they probably wont care, because youve got little option but to keep buying their products anyway. There are no ingredients listed on the back of the bottle, which is a problem as 1. I want to know how much eucaplyptus there is in it, and 2. How is anybody supposedto know if theyre allergic to any of the products in it? Come on Fairy, calorie info we dont need, but ingredients we do! I will say that Fairy gets my wine glasses absolutely sparkling clean. And as long as you use enough then it does th
e job and gets pretty much everything super clean. I'll probably keep buying Fairy, because I like the pretty blue colour! Thanks for reading! Nat :o) www.fairy-dish.com Fairy is available from all good supermarkets - and some runish ones too. A 750ml bottle will set you back around £1.60
