Fairy Non Bio Gel
Advantages: smells lovely, kind to skin
Disadvantages: tricky to tell when you are running out
I am not particularly loyal to any brand when it comes to choosing something to do my washing with. My son and I are lucky not to react to anything really in terms of the scented products I have tried but I do try to stick to non biological products where I can just in case one of us should react badly to an ingredient. The product which I am currently using to do our washing is Fairy non bio gel and this is my review of the product.
I bought this 888ml bottle of washing gel with my main food shop online from asda where it cost £4 from memory on offer. The usual selling price is £7.18 but it can be found on offer at Waitrose for £3.59 currently and Sainsbury's for £4.00 and so it is worth looking around for offers. As I said I often just buy a brand which is on offer because to me it makes no sense to pay over the odds for a product when other good brands are on a promotion.
The fairy non bio gel is made by proctor and gamble UK and comes in a white recyclable plastic tub. On the tub there is a label which tells us that this product is "huggably soft for sensitive skin" and it is also dermatologically tested. The familiar fairy baby is marching across the top of this label so this and the blue green colour scheme makes it instantly recognisable as a fairy product to me. This 888ml bottle should give us 24 washes according to the packaging and there is a guide on the back of the bottle which advises you on how much of the product you should use per wash depending on the load size and the water in your area.
What annoys me slightly about using a gel product for my washing is that I can never see when I am running out unlike when I use a powder and even to some extent when I use a liquid product too. This bottle isn't see through and it is hard to gauge how much is left in there and so I have to just rely on the fact that as it gets closer to running out it will be harder to squeeze the gel out.
There is a dispenser on the top of the bottle which is removable and you should fill this with the gel depending on your water type and load size. I literally don't have a clue what the water is like in my area and so I just go off load size and tend to gill the middle part of the dispenser completely. You should place the filled dispenser in to the drum of the machine with your clothes to be washed and then set it off as normal. I sometimes find with the gel washing products that they can be a nightmare to squeeze the product out and so you can end up with a lot of wastage but this one seems to be easy to squeeze and the dispenser is filled with little effort.
The scent of this product isn't really strong but it is a fresh, clean and pure scent and when my clothes have been washed with this they do smell nice and fresh. In most loads I use a fabric conditioner as well and I do think that this scent and that of comforts pure fabric conditioner really compliment each other well. My clothes are always washed well with this product and there is never any residue left on my clothes which sometimes occurs when I use a powder washing powder. If I need to remove a particularly bad stain I will use vanish or something in my wash too but on a day to day basis this product cleans our clothes well and makes them smell and look fresh.
I would certainly choose to use this product again should I find it on a good offer because I think it is a good product for cleaning clothes, it smells nice and it is non biological and so kind on mine and my son's skin. My only tiny niggle is the fact that it can be hard to tell when I am running out because despite the bottle having a thin see through line on the side of it it is still hard to see how much you have left in there.
Thank you for reading my review!
Summary: A good product
