Advantages: Smells fresh.Washes well.Suitable for sensitive skin
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest.
Fairy Non-Bio is a non-biological washing powder, available at all the usual supermarkets and convenience stores.
The price comes in at around average for a brand name powder, at around £10.00 for the humungous economy size box that I usually haul into the trolley.
The design of the box means it is certainly the prettiest looking box on the shelves: lovely pale aqua colour, with dark green writing, and the cutest little Fairy Baby character walking across the box.
The smell of this washing powder is really nice and soapy: I mean that some washing powders nowadays tend not to smell of anything much any more. I guess this is because there is now a tendency towards making things more environmentally friendly all the time and maybe this includes using less fragrances/perfumes ? I don't know, but anyway, Fairy does have quite a strong smell of a typical old-style washing powder fragrance, lovely and soapy and 'clean' smelling.
The non-biological aspect means that this is suitable for all skin types, and is designed not to irritate sensitive skins, so making it particularly good for people with eczema and other skin conditions, as well as generally good for baby and children's clothing.
As it warns on the pack though, people with severe skin problems could still be affected so should proceed with caution and make sure all the residue is rinsed away properly: The image of Fairy is of softness and gentleness, but it is still a mainstream product, designed to remove dirt! It still contains chemicals etc.
In an attempt to save money, I now wash most dark and coloured clothing on a 30 degree wash, and I also use a little less that the pack instructions recommend. The Fairy Non-Bio seems able to handle this with no problems.
Laundry that is not too heavily stained seems to wash fine with this Fairy Non-Bio, and everything comes out nice and clean and smelling fresh. Anything more heavily stained, I use an additional product directly onto the stain anyway, and I find that that is necessary with all brands that I have tried.
This powder also dissolves quickly, even at this low temperature, and doesn't 'glue up' in a clump like some that I have tried, so top marks for that too.
Overall verdict: Not the cheapest, but a good-quality powder that leaves laundry fresh-smelling and clean.
Summary: Fairy Non-Bio, quality product, suitable for everyone
