Advantages: doesnt irritate sensitive skin, smells lovely
Disadvantages: expensive,no measuring scoop provided.
My youngest son has sensitive skin and comes out in a rash if I use strong detergents to wash his clothes. The only washing detergent that I can safely use is Fairy non biological ,designed for sensitive skin. Fairy is available in liquid tabs, gel and powder . I decided to buy the powder variant as I get really frustrated with the plastic bottle that the gel comes in,as I find it impossible to get all the gel out! The liquid tabs are really convenient but also work out a lot more expensive that powder.
Fairy powder has used the same packaging for as long as I can remember. The pale blue and white box does make it easy to find the product on the shelf, but it is hardly exciting to look at! However as you should never judge a book ( or soap powder) by its cover ,how does it perform?
I am disappointed that the manufactures Proctor and Gamble, don't included a measuring scoop in the box. It is possible to order one for free from their web site, but it would have been handy to have one instantly available! The box gives dosing information suggesting you use about 130ml of powder for a wash if you have medium water hardness. There is a handy map provided on the back of the box showing you what type of water every area has. I live in a soft water area so need to use less powder. The powder is placed in the washing machine drawer. I admit that I don't measure the powder, but guess how much to use.
I try to wash on as lower a temperature as possible to save fuel. I am really pleased with the results using Fairy for almost all of my washing. It comes out of the machine smelling clean and fresh without that strong soap powder smell you get from some other brands. I really don't like to smell of soap powder! The cloths are normally clean with light stains removed. Fairy is also good at keeping colours bright .
However on the negative side,Fairy is just not up to the job of removing heavy stains. For this I need to use a biological detergent. I have to remove heavy stains from my youngest sons clothing my soaking. Fairy is an expensive detergent, although it is often on offer. A 2.85 KG box that will provide about 30 washes is on sale in Asda at £6.74. Tesco have an 800 gram box ( 10 washes) for £3.
Overall I would definitely recommend Fairy for anyone with sensitive skin .
