==Overview==

My favourite washing powder/liquid is Surf Tropical Flowers, I love the smell of the laundry after using that so was (a) surprised to find that baby clothes need to be washed in non-bio washing powder and (b) gutted to find Surf Tropical Flowers does not have a non-bio version so our forthcoming little monster will not be smelling of tropical flowers! I have just begun washing the baby clothes ready in preparation and bought a box of Fairy Non-Bio powder to wash the clothes in. I think Fairy did a sterling job of marketing as they put a baby on the front of the box and so that definitely encouraged me to buy Fairy rather than any of the other brands of non-bio which I'm certain do the same job but Fairy's marketing department "got" me with the picture of the baby and reassured me that this was the washing powder for me (I'm not usually quite so much of a sucker but I'm going into unknown territory here!). A 25 box wash cost me £4 which was good value compared to some of the other brands and one thing that did strike me was that there were fewer deals on the non-bio washing powders than normal washing powders, I'm not sure if that is common all the time but in the last fortnight the deals on non-bio have not been great!

==My Opinion==

All of the baby clothes came out of the wash looking as clean as they went in (funny that seeing as they weren't dirty to start with *insert rolly eyes here* ) but smelling really nice. There was a fresh, "just washed" smell to them and you could definitely smell the difference between that and the big people's clothes that were washed in Surf. Both were nice but different. The Fairy powder made the clothes smell more like washing powder rather than scenting them in the same perfumed way as Surf does. To try the non-bio part, I washed the big people's clothes in the washing powder too and so far have found that it does not cause me or my husband any irritation at all on our skin and hopefully this will be the same for the small person when it arrives! Although I have sensitive skin sometimes, neither the Surf nor the Fairy give me a reaction which is good. I still prefer the smell of Surf Tropical Flowers so will be sticking to that for the big people and Fairy non-bio for the small person. I have only bought a small box to try as I want to see if the baby's skin will be OK with it before I stock up. If it is not, then I will use it for our clothes so that it is not wasted.

==Overall==

I did find the powder more messy than liquid or liqui-tabs but given that there were not many good deals on the non-bio, I basically just went for the cheapest option this time but think in the future I would try an alternative to powder. For the price, it wasn't too expensive but as I said, I did find it more expensive than the Surf when it is on offer so I hope that this isn't a long-term pricing strategy and I can get a good deal on it in the future. At the moment I wouldn't choose this washing powder as I prefer my Surf but if the baby's skin is happy in it then I will definitely buy this again but probably in another format.

Summary: Fine for big people, awaiting the trial with the little person.
