Advantages: Gorgeous smell, Clothes feel lovely and soft, good for sensitive skin
Disadvantages: Can be expensive
I do use my washing machine a lot, with a 4 year old daughter who loves getting messy and occasionally draws on herself and her clothes for fun, a 1 year old daughters who enjoys mashing food into her clothes and a husband who works in the building trade and enjoys fishing - they all create LOTS of washing! I've switched back to non-biological washing powder due to the eldest complaining of dry itchy skin.
I was reminded again of how lovely Fairy washing powder is when I had a sample in the Bounty packs which you get when you are pregnant and when you have just had the baby. It's very clever of Procter & Gamble to do this as they know that as soon as you start washing your unborn baby's clothes in this, you will become hooked. (Well I did anyway!)
-- The Packaging --
The washing powder is inside a turquoise coloured cardboard box with the Fairy logo in dark green lettering with the cute Fairy baby walking along the top. The box is quite big and bulky, I have made room for it in a cupboard next to the washing machine. As there are no 'child proof' features on a cardboard box, I hide it from the girls!
-- The Product --
This is very simple to use, I just scoop out the required amount of powder and place it in the washing machine drawer and set the right programme on the machine. I usually wash my clothes on a 40 degree wash and have found this powder very good at getting out stains, I do tend to wash my husbands work clothes on a 60 degree wash as they tend to be dirtier than the children's clothes.
I love the smell of this washing powder, it smells so clean and fresh. Sometimes I find that I have to tumble dry the clothes to get them soft as they can be quite stiff and crispy after being on the washing line but when I use this powder the clothes are lovely and soft. The smell stays on the clothes slightly. I can even tolerate slightly damp clothes hanging on the airer if they have been washed with this as they make the room smell nice.
-- Price and Availability --
This is widely available in most supermarkets and shops which sell washing liquids and powder. You may however not find the big box like this in smaller outlets. The last time I bought this, I bought it for £9 from Asda and it is supposed to do 38 washes.
-- Overall Summary --
I do think this product is quite expensive but I do love the smell of this washing powder and the results it gives. Maybe I should try just using it for the girls clothes and use cheaper washing liquid for the grown up clothes. I would recommend this especially when washing babies clothes or people with sensitive skin.
Thanks for reading.
(This is an updated review which I posted on another site a year ago - I DO still use Fairy!)
