Advantages: A spray that goes a long way to help combat pet odour
Disadvantages: none
Febreeze has been on the market for some time now, but when the chips are down im pretty reluctant to believe that any product that they have manufactured will help with my problem...Well not mine exactly but my dear old dogs!
Old age doesn't come alone and the older he gets the harder he finds it to clean himself properly. So short of giving him a subtle hint and offering him a can of `Sure`, which im sure he wont take me up on, Ive had to consider all of the alternatives on offer.
The aerosol air fresheners offer good short term benefits, I have recently been buying the Glade magnolia and vanilla, a pleasant and full bodied rich smell but it has its limitations.
Until I studied the bottle that was on the shelf at Tesco, Febreze was just something that I vaguely remembered seeing on a television advert.
Hmmm...Five different types...Febreze Classic, Febreeze Summer splash, Febreeze Lavender and Chamomile, Febreze Allergen reducer and Febreze Pet Odour Eliminator...Eureka!
£2.92 for 100 mls, affordable so I decided to invest in a bottle.
The bottle has the normal pump action spray with a twisting mechanism at the end of the nozzle to turn the flow on or off.
The spray states that when you use it on the pet beds and anywhere that your pet regards as being a comfy place the ingredients contained within the spray set to work on the oils and dirt that are left behind from the pets coat of hair.
I wasn't sure how long the spray would take to dry out, so I decided to leave the job until late at night when it had ample drying time.
I gave the pet bed and the sofa a quick vacuum over before spraying, the instructions told me to spray until the fabric was quite damp. The pet bed was fine, but I was a bit hesitant to spray the sofa just in case the colour ran! But needs must...and I gave the whole sofa a good spray too.
The smell was fresh and really pleasant and it took up over half of the bottle for that one session, but the room was fragrant for once!
I shut the door on it all and forgot about it until the next morning. Obviously nothing looked any different at all, but the air was certainly sweeter and the closer I got to the sofa the better it smelled. So after all of my misgivings I was pleased with the end result.
I have started to use Febreze Pet Odour eliminator regularly now, initially the fragrance is strong but it wanes fairly quickly.
There is no doubt that it performs much better than the ordinary aerosol freshener, but the lifespan of the spray seems to work out at about a week.
But if by spraying on a weekly basis helps to combat that `doggy` odour then quite frankly im happy to carry on using Febreze.
Summary: Pet odour is a real pain and Febreze certainly helps to ease the problem
