Advantages: Works really well
Disadvantages: Still can't remove burnt on grease completely
I've used Finish dishwasher products since I first had a dishwasher, and so I've tried every variation on the theme from powder, to liquid and tablets. The tablets have also developed from straightforward through to complicated, and the Quantum tablets seem to be a combination of all the above wrapped in a water soluble capsule.
The box is quite easy to open. There's a tear off strip at the front, which when removed, leaves a flap with two layers, cardboard on top and plastic underneath. removing the tear off strip reveals the instructions "Place the box flat and lift plastic upwards" so I tend to grab both layers and pull up. There is some resistance because inside the box is an airtight plastic container which keeps the tablets dry.
These really are the best dishwasher tablets I've ever used. They're still not perfect, and of course a lot depends on the dishwasher as well. However, where these excel is that there is absolutely no rinsing needed for normal crockery and cutlery, I just scrape off any leftover foods and pop the items in the dishwasher. They come out spotless.
The other job where my dishwasher powder has always let me down is with anything starchy, particularly in my non-stick pans. This includes rice, potatoes and even baked bean residues. Quantum seems to just eat these up, and my pans come up clean.
Burnt on grease is the one area where Quantum still can't produce perfect results. It certainly does a better job than any other dishwasher product I've ever used, but for my particular dishwasher, it ain't quite there yet.
On the back of the box there is a diagram showing the four different functions of the Quantum tablet.
1. Powerball Technology for outstanding cleaning results: I agree with that statement.
2. Micro Powder with integrated salt function - no need to add salt: I live in a very hard water area, so I still add salt to my dishwasher.
3. Shine Gel with integrated rinse aid function - no need to add rinse aid: True.
4. Integrated glass protection ...... helping to prevent permanent glass corrosion (cloudy glasses): too early to tell, the corrosion develops over time and I haven't been using it long enough to tell.
When the box is empty, it's easy to separate the plastic airtight container from the outer box, and recycle either or both parts.
Summary: The best results yet in my dishwasher.
