Advantages: Works very well, gets rid of grease and grime

Disadvantages: Quite strong and made me cough

I hate cleaning around the home, so therefore I like to use products that make those horrible jobs as easy as possible. I have found a few which I find actually work, but I can be a bit of a sucker for new products on the market - I just have to have a go to see how good they are. So when I spotted this new Flash product on a half price offer in Sainsburys, I thought it would be worth a go and I popped a bottle into my trolley.

Flash have been making quality cleaning products for many years, so I had quite a trust in the brand name. Thi new range of products is called 'Clean and Care' and is intended for use on all surfaces throughout the home. What makes this product different though is that it is fine to use on delicate surfaces, such as natural stone, enamel, steel and wood. It won't harm them, but it will still deliver effective and strong cleaning power. I liked the idea of being able to use one product on all surfaces so I really hoped it would work well.

The variety that I picked up is the 'White Vingegar and Citrus Extract' one, which is good for cutting through grease and removing stains. As I primarily wanted to use this cleaner in the kitchen, this one sounded like the better one for the job I wanted. It comes in a 500ml spray bottle, the same shape as the other Flash products, with a yellow coloured label which matches the yellow liquid inside the bottle. The other variety which contains bicarbonate of soda, is blue with white and blue labels so it is easy to tell them apart from each other.

I decided I would try it out in my bathroom first, and gave it a good spray throughout the surfaces and left it to work for a minute or so before I started to clean. Any shampoo bottle stains on the side of the bath quickly came away with just one wipe of the sponge, and left the sink and bath sparkling clean, and really gleaming. I was really impressed and wondered how it would fare with tougher stains to clean. So I carried on through to my kitchen and decided to tackle my somewhat stained glass hob. I made a curry Saturday evening and managed to spill a portion which welded itself to the hob because of the heat. I knew it would take something strong to help me shift this with ease, so it would be a good test.

I sprayed on a generous amount of the cleaner straight onto the food stains, and also generally across the hob too. I left it a couple of minutes before I took to it with a scourer, and I was really surprised! Althought the stains were dry and tough, with just a minimal effort they came away from the surface quite easily. The bottle does recommend leaving the product on tough stains for around 3 minutes, and this is definitely enough. I then carried on cleaning the rest of my hob, and the cleaner really did a great job. It cut through the grease no problem and left the glass wonderfully shiny and clean, just like it was when I bought it 2 years ago! After using the product, I just wiped it dry with a piece of kitchen towel and this stopped any smears and left it perfectly clean.

Despite this great cleaning power, I do have one negative about the product to tell you about. Although it releases quite a pleasant, lemoney scent when you use it, I did find it to be quite over-powering when you're standing right on top of the area you are cleaning. I found that it caught in the back of my throat and made me cough quite a lot, which felt quite uncomfortable and annoying, something I haven't experienced much before when cleaning. I tried opening my windows wide, but even in my large open kitchen, it was still a bit strong and made me cough which was a shame for me as otherwise this product was fantastic.

I have found it to be a great suitable cleaner for all surfaces in the home especially the more delicate ones such as the stainless steel on the front of my oven. It left those surfaces really clean, non-greasy and wonderfully shiny! Using old and trusted ingredients such as white wine vinegar clearly has worked for this product, and it really does give great cleaning power which works on the worst of stains. It even left my pine dining table really clean and soft, which was impressive. Please note the bottle advises you should test the product on an 'inconspicuous area' before using it all over, in case it does react. The spray is great, with a nice full spray when you squeeze the trigger, but not too much, in fact it is just right. There is a child safety cap which has to be rotated to the correct position for the product to work.

As I mentioned, this is a brand new product so it should be in all supermarkets now amongst the other cleaners. It is currently on an introductory offer of £1.24 for 500ml, although the price will be around £2.49 after this. Even so, I would still pay this price for an excellent cleaner, although I do recommend using it in a well ventilated area if possible.

Thank you for reading.

Summary: A great new cleaning product
