The Flash Power Mop is a great time saving device that that is both easy to set-up and use, and very effective at cleaning in comparison to a normal mop. It does come at a cost however.

      A great product from Flash.

      ~ Flash Power Mop ~

I bought my first ever Flash Power Mop about 8 years ago and I really did absolutely love it. At the time we were living in a rental property where the landlord was about as much use as a soggy tea towel, we moved in under the impression she would be laying flooring of some sort within the first week of us being there but this failed to ever materialise! So in the end we thought it would be best all round if we bought and laid the flooring ourselves, which we did and it didn't come cheap as the whole downstairs of the house needing doing. We chose a laminate flooring from the budget end of the range simply because we could afford nothing better, saying that, it went down with ease and lasted well without no noticable sings of wear.
To get the floor clean I did at first go for the tradition mop and bucket which worked brilliantly but then there was the endless waiting for the floor to dry, and then one night I was sat watching the telly when an advert came on for the Flash Power Mop and I was instantly sold. I had two young children at the time, one being three and the other being just a baby so a way to quickly clean the floors was a big thing for me.
Even now I clean the floors every evening and then I did the same too, after all your walking over the floors all day, everyday so it is important to me that they were/are cleaned everyday.
When I came to purchasing the Power Mop it wasn't an intentional thing really, I was doing my weekly shop in Asda and these were on an introductory offer for around £10 and that was for the starter kit. Of course I put it in the trolley with great satisfaction.

Upon getting home I put the shopping away and then set about getting my Power Mop sorted. In the box was the Power Mop, a bottle of cleaning solution, three cleaning pads and a few scouring pads. It required minimal assembly, the cleaning fluid needs to be inserted into the back of the mop, the bottle simply click down into place, the pads stick onto the bottom of the mop and the scourer sticks onto the side, the scourer is just there to make getting rid of any stubborn marks easy.

The Power Mop also requires 4AA batteries which are conveniently included.

Using the mop couldn't be easier, after applying a pad to the bottom plate, you simply have to press in the button located on the top piece of the mop, the handle if you will! When this is pressed you will hear a gentle whirring sound before seeing a stream of spray being directed at the floor, the spray hole is located very near the bottom plate and it does just aim at the floor without splashing onto any furniture. After you have sprayed the floor, you simply run the mop over it and the pad absorbs the fluid and cleans the floor at the same time, and as it is absorbing the fluid you are not left with a soaking wet floor. The little scouring pad on the side is great for removing any stubborn marks and to use this bit you simply have to flip the foot of the mop over and scrub away at the mark until it vanishes. Easy.
The great thing about this mop is the simple fact that it cuts cleaning times in half easily. Using a traditional mop means going back and forth wringing out the mop, cleaning a bit, wringing out the mop, cleaning a bit etc... This mop does not require any of that, it is just spray and mop, spray and mop .... Very easy!
And the floor dries so quickly, as the pad soaks up the fluid as you clean you are left with a pretty dry floor anyway but overall it only takes about 2-3 mins for the whole floor to be dry which is superb as everytime I mop the floor in the traditional way it's guaranteed that "someone" will need to walk through it for whatever reason .... Arghhh!

The Power Mop is also really handy for little spills, as you can quickly run the mop over the spill then spray and go over it again to ensure you don't get sticky patches on the floor.

The proof is really in the pad, when it comes to removing the pad you will be shocked by the amount of dirt it has picked up, the once pristine pad will end up grimy and nearly black!

Not a very nice comparison but the pads for the Power Mop really do remind me of a giant sanitary towel, and if I am being particular it reminds me of an Always sanitary towel. It has a plasticky coating covering the absorbent bit, they lock away the dirt and trap it in the pad so that you are not swishing dirt around the floor.

They are very good mops and are very sturdy, however I am on my second one, which in 8 years I do think is rather good. I would probably still be using the first one had my son not jumped on it when I had leaned it against the stairs!

As you have probably already realised the pads do need changing, and there are refill packs readily available in the supermarket. A refill pack of pads will set you back just over £4 for a 12 pack and it is for this reason that I do try and squeeze two uses of each pad. The only exception being if I mop everywhere, the bathroom, kitchen, living room, hallway etc. then I will just throw it after use. Refills of the cleaning solution are priced at around £3. They are not meant to be refillable but if I have run out I have prised the lid off and refilled it or alternatively you could always just use Flash spray and spray the floor yourself and then run the mop over.

Overall I do think these are an essential household item. It makes cleaning a doddle which I think is a must for everyone, especially me haha!

      Thanks for reading :o) x

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

This is a mop that allows for powerful and quick + easy cleaning whilst remaining great value

The Flash Power Mop is a new style of mop which offers up simple and quick cleaning with everything in-one but is it worth having in your home?

      Pros:
I rent my flat and so can't change my flooring type and thanks to this I have a kitchen which has an ancient lino floor that needs to be regularly cleaned to stop it from becoming sticky and dirty and thanks the Power Mop that is much quicker and easier than it previously was. The mop comes with a bottle of cleaning solution that you can push a button to activate and spray on to the floor for the pad attached to the bottom of the mop to work with to break down and pick up dirt and grease. This is brilliant as you don't have to have all different products and buckets laying around that cost a fortune and take up loads of space when not in use so for me this is perfect for people like me who are in a small flat as you can simply store the mop (with the bottle of cleaning solution and wipe still attached) behind the door.
The cleaning mop is well made and feel strong enough that you can put some pressure on to scrub at the dirt and grime that builds up on your floor without you feeling this is going to snap. Despite this strength it is designed to have optimal cleaning movement available with the head having a swivel action so that you can easily reach in to even the more difficult spots to clean up easily.
This mop cleans up with the cleaning solution to leave floors spotless and streak free in next to no time and thanks to the fact that the wipes simply peel off once needing changed then it makes this a very simple and time saving piece of kit to have.
The mop itself will not cost the earth and comes on a deal for around £15-£20 for a starter pack which includes the mop itself, cleaning pads and a bottle of the cleaning solution. This starter kit will last you for quite a while before you need to pick up any additional things for it and when you need to buy more of the cleaning solution it will cost around £3 to £4 for a 1.25 litre bottle which will last you for a number of washes (dependant on your floor size). The cleaning pads are also very cheap to replace as they costs around £3.50 to £5 for a pack of 12 and these will last for more than one full cleaning before they need to be replaced so really do offer up great value for money.

      Negatives:
      None

Overall I am a massive fan of the Flash Power Mop as I have it stored behind the door of my kitchen when not in use and whenever need to clean the floor up can do so quickly and easily. The fact I can spray and wipe makes the for quick and easy cleaning of the floor without needing to scrub at the floor and knacker myself. The mop does have a small scrubbing point on the side which allows for you to use this if you have thick grime that needs a little extra working on (this is not something I have ever had to use) and so you can feel confident this is not a gimmick and is fact a product that is designed to do a job and does it very well. For me this is a great product and one which I am happy to continue to pick up more cleaning solutions and pads for as it just makes things so much easier and quicker than other cleaning mops whilst not taking up as much space as the traditional mop and bucket would take.

A fantastic mop that saves me time and effort.

As we have a home full of wooden floors I have been on the look out for a mop that would make life quick and simple and I knew that the Flash Power Mop was the one I wanted. I waited until this was reduced in price to £9.00 in Asda and then promptly purchased one along with a packet of floor pads and an extra bottle of the cleaning solution. In the kit that I purchased I received the power mop, 3 floor cleaning pads, 1 cleaning strip and 1 1.25l bottle of cleaning fluid.

Within the box the Power Mop is in several pieces that took me just a minute to slot together without even looking at the instructions. I then stuck the cleaning strip on to the small area on the front of the mop and slapped a cleaning pad on to the velcro on the bottom of the mop. I put the 2 x AA batteries (provided) in to the mop and then I slotted the cleaning bottle in to place. It took around two minutes to put this together and get everything in the right place and functioning. Set up was incredibly easy and I did not need to bother with the instructions for this although I did almost throw the small scrubbing strip in the bin at first as I just thought it was a piece of packing materials as it looks like a strip of polystyrene!

The power mop is incredibly easy to use. You simply press a button located about 1/3 of the way down the handle. This then emits a spray of the mopping solution that is ready to just be used on the floor instantly. I don't use the recommended 3-4 second hold per metre squared preferring to just use my own initiative and decide based on where I'm cleaning (more for bathroom less for bedroom). It's incredibly easy to use this and it's literally just a case of spraying the liquid and rubbing the mop up and down the area you want to clean. There is a cleaning strip located on the front and to use this you simply tip the mop with your foot. This is ideal for stubborn stuck on marks and it does work quite well at removing stuck on marks from my flooring.

I have been very pleased with how easy to handle this mop is. It takes me just a couple of minutes to use this mop and clean my whole home through effectively. The strip on the top is great for ensuring I can remove stubborn marks without saturating the floor and risking damaging it. The liquid is perfect for use with this mop and has a pleasant, not too strong, inoffensive scent to it (called sea minerals I believe). My floors are left clean and streak free and providing I don't step in the wet area for a few minutes the finish is lovely and free of marks.

I must say that the bottles of liquid are not very long lasting and I can only clean my home through once or maybe twice at a push based on the recommended amount which is the main reason that I have been trying to make the floor cleaner go a little bit further. You can purchase a 1.25l bottle for around £3-£4 depending on where you buy from but I have been purchasing mine on Amazon for just under £3 per bottle when buying 3 at a time. The floor pads (12 in a box) cost a similar price and I find that one or two of these are what I need for a complete clean through which I usually do once or twice a week. The prices that I quote here are usually based on special offers as I wouldn't be willing to pay £5 or £6 for the bottle and £8 or £9 for the packet of 12 pads. Amazon seem to have lots of offers on the powermop products and if you subscribe and save to regular deliveries you can save an additional 10% which is a pretty good offer!

This mop is ideal for those moments when you notice a little dirty mark and don't want to have to fill up a bucket and bother wringing out the mop. This mop is time saving and while it costs a bit more to use this than to just fill up a bucket it's very easy and convenient and that's what I'm all about after a long, hard day at work! I have marked this product down one star because of the price of the accessories that you do need to use it.

A fantastic invention for cleaning floors from Proctor and Gamble

You may not be aware that I absolutely love cleaning and whilst I've not yet been certified I have to say that I find it extremely therapeutic! There's nothing more satisfying than relieving the stress and pressures of the day with a spray can of polish and a duster so I can make my house gleam and shine. However, there's one job that I absolutely detest and that is cleaning my floors! I have a mixture of floor coverings in my home, which consist of only a few carpets, so the remainder need a little elbow grease, particularly as hubby will insist on entering the house without firstly wiping his feet! As hubby is disabled due to a work related accident, many of the household chores lie with yours truly and this rather unfortunate habit of messing the floors with his muddy feet is often the basis of many a disagreement in our household!

Approximately seven years ago I discovered a fantastic little invention, which assisted me greatly with my most hated task (well, other than the ironing!) and during a rather how shall I put it, unpleasant divorce five years ago, my first husband decided to take possession of my purchase (without my permission, I hasten to add!) Why I will never know, particularly as he had never even used it, but I think it was all part of his cunning plan! Anyway, let me get to the point.

Unfortunately, I could not find a replacement despite searching high and low, so for the past five years I have been forced to get down on my hands and knees and wipe the floors with a flannel and a spray bottle of cleaner, so my ex actually managed to get his ultimate revenge! Having said that I have to say as it was an absolutely horrendous task the scrubbing of the floors occurred only once in a blue moon! However, last weekend following a £40 spend on groceries in Asda I was presented with a small booklet containing £40's worth of coupons, which could be redeemed off selected products throughout the store.

I almost threw the book straight in the bin, but something made me sit down and flick through the various pages when I couldn't believe my eyes as staring back at me was my fantastic little invention with a £5 off coupon! I hadn't even been able to remember the name of this wonderful product until I rediscovered it on the pages of the booklet and consequently, I dashed straight back to Asda and repurchased my trusty friend. I would advise at this point that as soon as I was once again aware of the name of this product I carried out a little price research amongst the various supermarkets and for some unknown reason it seems that it is only available in Asda. Although I've owned my new product for just over one week I have previously had two years' experience of using it and as it is identical I am well informed to advise you of this superb time saver.

        WHAT IS MY WONDERFUL PRODUCT?

Well, I'm sure you now know what this product is from the picture shown above, but if you haven't glanced at the photograph I would advise that it is called the Flash Power Mop and is manufactured by Proctor and Gamble. This clever little invention will make extremely light work of removing dirt and stains from your floor and will leave your home gleaming. Consequently, there's no need to get down on your hands and knees in an effort to scrub, scrub, scrub!

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT FLASH POWER MOP?

Okay, the mop doesn't push itself around the floor neither does it cast a magic spell and instantly clean your floors! However, it is extremely lightweight and operates with four AA alkaline batteries, which are supplied with your purchase and will enable the product to spray through its' powerful jet action sprayer, a cleaning solution; the bottle of which neatly fits to the rear of the mop. I have learned that once the fresh cleaning solution makes contact with the floor it instantly begins to dissolve and subsequently breaks down any dirt and greasy stains.

        ASSEMBLING YOUR MOP

Your mop is provided to you in a sturdy cardboard box with various images of the product on the outside, together with its' uses. I would advise that I walked up and down the aisles of Asda several times before I was able to locate this product, particularly as it was not stored with the other mops. In fact, I found this product in amongst the bottles of floor cleaners, which in my opinion is a big mistake, particularly as customers like myself would find this extremely difficult to find. Inside the box you will discover three silver sections of the pole, which need to be assembled to create one long length.

The process is extremely simple, particularly as each section snaps into place and sits snugly to form a 120 cm pole and once assembled the mop cannot be taken apart. The upper section provides us with an easy to hold purple handle, which has several ridges on its' underside, so gripping is extremely easy especially for anyone who may experience difficulties with this hands and/or fingers. There is a large silver ring on the upper section, which makes this mop ideal for hanging up in your under the stairs cupboard.

Once you have assembled your mop you are ready to insert the batteries, which easily slot into place inside the battery compartment, which is located at the rear of the lower section and is manufactured from a sturdy purple plastic that mirrors the colour of the handle. This is accessible by opening the flap and once the batteries are correctly inserted you simply push back the flap until it clicks neatly into place. Your next task is to insert the cleaning solution, which I will discuss later in this review. This is an extremely simple task where you place the bottle in the correct position as indicated by the large arrow located on the one side. As soon as the bottle is in the required position you will hear a click.

Please note that you should not pierce or remove the lid of the bottle, as when you push it onto the appropriate section of the mop it will automatically be pierced for you. Okay, we're nearly there. We now have to attach the scrubbing strip, which is simply a short length of white textured material with a fairly rough surface and it is extremely useful for removing any stubborn stains. To do this, we need to remove the sticker from the underside and press the strip firmly down on the appropriate section on the side of the mop. Finally, we need to attach a cleaning pad, which I will discuss later in my review and this is simply applied to the underside of the lower section of the mop, which is manufactured from a sturdy purple plastic and displays the familiar Flash logo and the words "Power Mop". As the underside of the mop is designed with two strips of a velcro style material, which are located near to the edges, the pad firmly attaches itself ready for use. Whilst the setting up of your mop may sound a little long-winded I can assure you that it is not and takes only 2 - 3 minutes. It's me who is long-winded in my attempt to explain the process to you!

        USING YOUR MOP

The first thing you need to do is to ensure that your floors are free of any bits, so I tend to vacuum before I use my mop, as otherwise the cleaning pad will tend to drag the bits around the floor and you will find yourself constantly bending over to pick them up! Okay, we're ready to use our mop! Situated on the front of the handle is a large white push button and it is this that operates the cleaning spray. You simply need to press this a couple of times when you will witness a gentle whirring sound and a powerful jet of cleaning liquid will be released onto your floor from the small dispensing area in the lower section of your mop. However, I would suggest you make sure your pet is well out of the way, as when my poor cat was alive I accidentally covered her in the stuff, as she simply refused to budge from her sleeping place in the middle of my living room floor!

As you spray you need to use a sweeping motion with your mop until your floor is sparkling clean. The mop can be used on a variety of surfaces, such as marble, stone, vinyl, ceramic, linoleum, wood and laminate and takes a fraction of the time compared with a mop and bucket. I have black glossy tiles in my bathroom, which, on reflection was a big mistake, particularly as they show every single mark. I was constantly finding tiny specks of white all over the floor and it took me a while to realise that each time either hubby or I dispensed some toilet paper small flakes from the edges were dropping to the floor. However, a quick blast with my powerful toy leaves my floor sparkling.

To give you some idea of the length of time that it would take you to clean a room I would advise that my living room floor measures in the region of 12 foot by 30 foot and I can efficiently whip around with my mop in around 10 minutes. Another huge positive with this mop is the speedy drying time as it roughly takes about 3 - 4 minutes to totally dry, which is absolutely fantastic. Prior to purchasing this mop hubby would frequently decide he was desperate for a cup of tea within minutes of me washing the floor and would subsequently walk all over it leaving huge footprints in his path! Arggh! As the mop head is extremely flexible you are able to push it with your foot to reach those awkward areas, such as underneath beds or cupboards, as the pole is connected to a universal joint. Consequently, it can be manoeuvred into any direction allowing you to clean almost anywhere. As discussed earlier the scrubbing strip will allow you to remove those stubborn marks and stains and to do so you need to flip the mop onto its' side until removed and then continue mopping.

        THE CLEANING SOLUTION

Accompanying your mop is a lilac coloured sample 500ml bottle of multipurpose cleaning solution and we are informed that this product contains sea minerals, which will dissolve tough greasy dirt, will dry fast and leave virtually no stains. The full sized bottles contain 1.25 litres of liquid and we are presented with various marketing information situated over the entire bottle. We are informed that one bottle can clean at least ten rooms, but in my experience of having previously used this product I would advise that I scrimped and consequently, made the bottle last much longer. Whilst I have learned that there are two fragrances available, namely the one I have discussed above, which smells absolutely clean and fresh I have been unable to locate the other fragrance, which is Fresh Lemon, so my quest will continue. As previously advised the bottle easily clicks into place and once empty is removed by pressing the release button that is situated a few inches below. There is no risk of the bottle leaking once removed, as I haven't a clue how this actually operates, but the pierced hole is totally invisible to the eye. I can confirm that in using this product you are not likely to turn your floors into an ice rink!

        THE CLEANING PADS

The appearance of the pads remind me of giant sanitary towels, as they are thick and white with large flaps located either side! However, the only difference is that the pads measure approximately 28 cm x 14 cm and I've yet to find a sanitary towel of this size! Accompanying the power mop you will find three pads and we are advised that each will clean approximately two large rooms of about 30 square metres. The clever idea behind these multi-layered pads is that they lock away tough dirt and you will notice that the more you clean the heavier the pad becomes (and grubbier!). In fact, I was utterly shocked and disgusted at how much grease and grime was actually lurking on my floors! The underside of the pad has a fairly soft texture and is padded to enable the grease and grime to be effectively absorbed. The upper section displays the familiar logo of Flash and is covered with a protective film, which should not be removed. I find the pads extremely effective and you will notice as you are zooming around your rooms that the outer edges will collect a huge amount of bits of dirt and hair. To be honest I am regularly picking off mounds of long hair, as I seem to be frequently shedding!

To enable my pads to last a little longer I tend to store my mop in the warm airing cupboard, particularly as it seems to dry out the pad and lengthen its' life. However, I would advise you to remove your pad as soon as it becomes saturated, as otherwise, as I previously discovered, the pad will start to fall apart, which will result in a horrible soggy mess landing on your lovely clean floor! Removing the pad is a very easy operation, as you simply need to pull it gently away from the Velcro. Unfortunately, the pad is unsuitable for recycling so needs to be disposed of with your normal household waste.

        OTHER INFORMATION

You are provided with a 10 page instruction booklet, which gives a number of useful hints and tips on how to achieve best results, such as spray for at least 3 - 4 seconds per square meter of your floor and to carry out a floor safety test prior to use. Your mop is also covered by a two-year guarantee, so remember to retain your receipt and to register you need to complete the registration card and remember to the address provided. I'm not intending to discuss the content of the instruction booklet, but would advise that it provides easy to follow step-by-step assembly advice together with accompanying photographs.

        MY OPINION AND RECOMMENDATION

I simply cannot fault this mop as it really has made my life so much easier. On the day of purchase I said to hubby "I expect we'll be fighting over who will be using this" to which he calmly replied "no!" Whilst I would not have expected hubby to carry out such a strenuous task due to his disabilities, in my opinion this is an extremely easy product to use and very soon I will be giving him an introductory lesson, particularly as it will give him some much needed exercise! For anyone who experiences back problems, such as myself, floor cleaning is a walk in the park, as there is now no awkward bending or the need to move furniture, as my trusted friend can easily reach into awkward areas. My floors are now always gleaming and were previously a very neglected area, as I simply did not have the time or the desire to become the household scrubber! What I favour with this mop is that it does not leave streaky water stains on your floor or an imprint of the pattern on the underside of the pad; a problem I have experienced with many other mops. My floors seem to stay clean for a long period of time and in my opinion this product is superb value for money. Another real positive is that your hands do not make contact with the cleaning solution, so there is no fear of suffering any adverse reactions

        PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Whilst this mop may initially seem expensive at £20 you are provided with a 500ml bottle of cleaning fluid, together with three cleaning pads. Replacement pads are sold in boxes of 12 for £4.48 and 1.25 litre bottles of cleaning solution at £3.38. However, as previously stated, it seems that only Asda stock both this product and replacement accessories and if anyone knows of elsewhere please let me know.

Well, that's the end of my review and if you got this far I would thank you for bearing with me. I now have to rate this product and as I am sure you have guessed, it receives 5 stars from me! I hope I have managed to fully inform you of my experience of this fantastic product and believe me when I say that it makes floor cleaning so simple and in fact dare I say, a rather enjoyable task!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

This is great but difficult to find so not really worth buying anymore

I bought one of these over a year ago now. I am not a fan of conventional mops (just think they are full of germs) and am always looking out for new things to buy without spending a fortune. I was previously using the swiffer sweeper where you can use both wet and dry cloths to clean your floor. However, my other half was not a fan of these and so when we saw a flash power mop we thought it would be the perfect solution.

I thought the flash power mop looked really unique. Its like an advanced version of the swiffer sweeper I was already using. The power mop has a rectangular base with velcro pieces to which you attach replacable absorbant pads and then just above this on the back of the mop there is a place to attach a bottle of cleaning solution. At the top of the mop there is a button to press which squirts the solution out of a hole on the top of the rectangular base.

I bought the inital start up kit for the flash power mop from savers for 10.00, thinking I was getting a real bargain as I had seen them for around 20.00. The inital kit comes with the flash power mop (seperated in to pieces so it is in a relatively small but heavy box), cleaning solution and a couple of abosrbant pads. The mop does require a couple of batteries for the spray to work but luckily it does come with these and I have not had to replace them yet.

The shock for me was when it came to buying the refills for the mop (I should have maybe looked in to it a bit more). The solution for the mop costs over 3.00 and 12 replacement pads cost around 5.00 so its very expensive. However I really like the results the mop gives and in fairness the solution does last a fairly long time as you can choose how much you use (unless your like me who once stored this in a cupboard where the boiler is and was really shocked when the solution ran out really quickly!)

I was (an still am) a big fan of how this mop works. The refill pads are hygenic and the cleaning solution is really good. You only use what you need and it smells really nice. I also used to find floor wipes for the swiffer sweeper could often dry up so it avoided that happening. In fairness this mop wont clean the dirtiest of floors and so I still have to get on my hands and knees to clean it from time to time.

The problem with this, like many other 'unique' cleaning products is that if it hasnt completely taken off in popularity (which I dont think this did because of its cost) it starts to become impossible to find the refills for it. Last time I was in Sainsburys they were still selling the solution and the refill pads and I have also seen them in Wilkinsons from time to time. However, I normally shop in Tescos and although they used to sell the inital starter kit for the mop I have never seen the refills which I find a little annoying. You can still find the refill kits online but personally I dont tend to buy cleaning stuff online, so for me its a case of stocking up when I see the refills instore.

I think this is a great bit of cleaning kit which I will carry on using for as long as I can but I think as it gets more and more obsolete I will have to either revert back to my swiffer sweeper or find some new alternative mop to waste my money on.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Stick to mop and bucket

Since moving into our new house back in July I've found it difficult to keep the laminate floor downstairs clean and feel like I'm forever brushing and mopping it. I was complaining to my partner and a few days later he returned from the shop with the Flash Power Mop.

Ok so at first I wasn't sure how I'd fid this, I thought he had just bought another silly gadget like he always did.

            What is it?

The power mop is basically a glorified mop. It has pads which you have to attach to the mop to clean the floor and then you can bin them once you have used them.

The other thing that makes this mop different is you attach a bottle of flash spray that has been designed just for the power mop. It means with a touch of a button you can spray the floor and then mop it up to clean your floor.

            Price

James (my partner) bought the Power Mop from Morrisons a couple of months ago and at the time it was on offer. He bought it for £7.99 which claimed to be half price.

I have since looked and noticed that they are selling for £16.99. The pads cost about £2.99 for 6 pads and the flash bottle refills cost about £4.80. Prices do vary from shop to shop and I do try to stock up when they're on offer.

            How I got on

Well setting it up I was quite excited about how easy this would be to clean my floors and assumed it would take me minutes to clean all the floors downstairs. The Power Mop claims to pick up dust and dirt from the floor meaning less vacuuming also.

Included in our set up pack was one pad to attach to the mop and also a bottle off the flash floor cleaner so you can get started without having to spend loads of money on all the other bits at the same time. Luckily James had bought the other bits whilst they were half price as well.

So once I attached the pad and put the bottle of spray in place which actually took me a while as the instructions weren't that straight forward and I put the pad on upside down and also didn't click the bottle in properly. I was beginning to wonder if this mop was actually worth the hassle?

Finally I got to work with the mop. The first thing I noticed about the mop is has a handle at the top for easier grip. At the handle there is a white button which is to spray the flash whenever you need to. I pressed the button and noticed that the spray did distribute very evenly and managed to wet quite a large area of the floor.

Pushing the mop across the wet floor it felt really easy to clean and thought that I would be done really quickly. I was wrong though once I actually got to dirty bits on the floor like spilt sauce in the kitchen I found that no amount of mopping would shift the sauce. Luckily flash have thought of this and they have added a scrubber onto the edge of the mop. All you have to do is turn the plastic mop head onto it's side and there you go nice and clean.

So far so good. So the mopping was done in a quick 20 minutes for the whole of the downstairs and I was able to get on with wedding stuff. I looked at the pad we had put on and noticed that it was really dirty so it definitely needed binned by the end even though I thought my floor was reasonably clean. It just shows how dirty the floors can gets so quickly.

            Bad points

Ok there were some bad points with this mop. I found that it didn't pick up hairs like it states it will and the advert showed so I was a bit disappointed. I have 6 cats so you can understand that I do need something that will pick up all their hairs but I suppose no other mop picks up hairs either.

The scrubber at the side to clean stuck on dirt (like my sauce on the kitchen floor) does take a lot of effort to use by having to put the mop head on it's side. Unfortunately this part of the mop can't be replaced so you have to wash it after every use. This make this mop needing washed as much as any other mop which defeats the purpose of this mop being quick and easy to get out and put away after use.

The pads take a bit of getting used to. At first I found it quite fiddly putting the pads on the mop head but once you get used to it, it becomes a lot easier and quicker.

            Overall Opinion

To be honest at full price I wouldn't buy this mop as I really don't think it's worth it. It is handy if there's spillages to just pull it out and clean them up without having to get a bucket of water.

The price of the refills of flash spray and the pads also bumps the price of this mop up quite a bit and on the box it does state that the pads each will do 2 - 3 rooms so you do really need to bin them often.

I always expect products like this to be a lot better than they actually are and then get disappointed that they don't do as well as what they advertisements state but I should learn from this by now.

Now I am used to it I find it handy to have and love the fact that there is spray at the touch of a button. It has helped me out on several occasions and it does do a good job so I won't be getting rid of mine anytime soon but I wouldn't advise you to go out and buy it unless it's on offer and you're willing to pay for all the pads and refill flash bottles.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

it really is a more powerful mop

It's fair to say that my kitchen floor, at its worst, would make even Kim and Aggie, who have seen it all before, shudder. It's not that I don't clean, it's just that my children seem to have an amazing ability to liberally cover it with their food, craft materials - glitter is a favourite, and to leave muddy footprints as they dash in from the garden. I've been through a fair few mops in my endeavours to keep the floor in some sort of hygienic state, from the traditional sort (cleaning head fell off), to this, the impressively titled "power mop". I purchased it at Morrisons as a set for £8.00, the rrp is £19.99.

              What is it?

The mop I bought came in a rectangular box, ready for assembly, and with 3 mop pads, more of which later, a bottle of lemon cleaning fluid, 4 batteries, and the mop itself in 3 parts. You need the batteries as the mop, once assembled, has a swivel cleaning head with an abrasive part on the top, and a button to press to spray the cleaning solution onto the floor. The handle is made of a light-weight metal that is quite easily assembled - once put together you can't take it apart again to store - and has a hook at the top to hang up the mop when not in use. You get a "user guide" too which tells you everything you need to know about using this item.

As a set I think it was quite good value at £8.00, £19.99 would have been quite a lot in my opinon. The pads and bottle do have to be replaced with the branded flash products and so this is a hidden upkeep cost of this item in a sense - the bottles retail at £3.00 for 1 litre of product, and the pads are 6 for about the same price.

              Using the mop:

Once you have got past the feeling you are wielding some sort of strange weapon, using the mop is easy. You press the spray for about 3-4 seconds to clean 1 metre, following the instructions in the guide, it does make a strange buzzy noise but then it sprays well. The solution is fairly pleasantly scented and dries quickly - no need to rinse. The manufacturer says 1 bottle should cover at least 8 rooms - this is probably about right, I have quite a large tiled area to clean and it does last longer than you would think. The handle is nicely padded and the whole thing is easy to manoeuvre and, if not exactly a pleasure to use (it's a mop after all), a definite improvement on generic mops.

The abrasive pad on the top of the mop head is very good at scrubbing off anything stuck to the floor - you just swivel the mop over. The pad is designed to clean and then suck up the dirt and liquid - this is does, whilst unfortunately looking rather like a sanitary pad (apologies to the sensitive, but having thought long and hard there really is no other way to describe it).

I was rather horrified the first few times I used this mop quite how dirty the pad got, but it can be thrown away and at least you can see the dirt is being removed.

              Using with different flooring:

Whilst using the mop you can interchange bottles to clean the different kinds of flooring - they make a detergent for wooden floors as well as tiles, marble and vinyl.

              Bad points?

As already mentioned this does clean well, and it makes the job of cleaning the floor quicker, and for this top marks. I do think though that it isn't an environmentally friendly way to clean the floor - though the bottles are recyclable you are still discarding the pad after cleaning about 3 rooms.

This does mean that, as already mentioned, this mop does cost quite a lot to maintain. It is, however, guaranteed for 2 years, which is good to know.

              Overall:

Overall I am pleased with this product and do recommend it, if you can find it for sale at the £8.00 - £12.00 mark and are prepared to pay a little extra for the convenience of the refills - detergent and hot water is a lot cheaper quite frankly. The price of these is the reason for the 4 stars I have given this item. I have found it is an improvement on the way I used to clean the floor - now I just need to work on training my children not to walk all over the cleaned floor in their wellies. Now that might very well be harder work than mopping the floor....

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

a must for anyone who has solid floors of any type.

I need to tell you about the flash powermop . I love it and so does my five year old(he begs me to let him wash the floor).

I have floor tiles laminate and wood all through the downsatirs and actually most of the upstairs too and it so easy to use and so effective on all those floor types. You just press the button and a fine mist of the spray is squirted onto the floor and then you wipe, the disposable pad on the bottom cleans the floor easy. The little pad on the top of the mop can be used to remove stubborn marks there is a definate knack for turning the mop over and using the pad but once you suss it out its easy. The results are amazing the floor is cleaned in no time at all and when dirty the pads simply pull off and go in the bin and the new one just attaches on velcro in its place and you are ready to go again and it keeps the floor much drier than any traditional mop.

The only downside is that you need to keep relacing the pads which you wouldnt on other mops but it keeps the floor clean and drys very quickly so overall a very useful tool one of the things I wouldn't want to live without.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Quick and easier than a mop and bucket....

The Flash Power Mop (FPM) is a great idea if you want to discard that stinky and unhygenic old fashioned mop and bucket.
You simply press the trigger which activates a spray of floor cleaner from the attached bottle, then mop your floors.
It comes with a few cleaning pads which attach with velcro to the mop head, and a small bottle of cleaning fluid.
The BIG downside is that you are then hooked into buying Flash priducts, because no other pad is suitable for the mop, and because the bottle is not refillable, so you have to purchase a new bottle every time, at about £3 a pop, as well as a pack of pads at about the same price.
This works out pretty expensive if, like me, you clean a few times a week, have a house of laminate/tile flooring, and are cleaning up spills and messes made by two kids under 2!
The pads don't last more than a few times, and sometimes just seem to spread the dirt about rather than catching it despite there being two 'flaps' on the pads to catch the hair and dirt - it just doesn't seem to work that effectively.
Also, you need to shell out for batteries to run the trigger mechanism.
There is also the problem of the availability of the liquid and pads - some supermarkets just do not seem to stock them, or only stock the Ocean liquid when I prefer the Lemon one!!

I have had two of these mops and am about to buy my third - why? The first one, the trigger mechanism broke and stopped working, so no spray. The second mop just completely broke in half at the join, right through the metal pole. Each lasted about a year (probably a bit less) despite the 2 year guarantee by the manufacturer.
However, depsite these shortcomings, I would still rather use this than get out a floor bucket and mop, and have all the hassle of filling buckets and cleaning mop heads etc.

It's an okay product but does have inherant design flaws.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  Try before you buy?!

This Flash Power Mop was bought by my housemate when we first moved into a house, and I have to say I had mixed feelings about it originally.

How it works is it has a disposable pad attached to the bottom of it, and a button towards the top of the handle which squirts out some of the cleaning liquid onto the floor just in front of the mop. You then simply push the mop over the area you've just wet to clean it. Simple? You'd think...

You pay a price for convenience. In this case, you pay a lot of extra prices for convenience as the Flash pads and liquid will ensure that you keep paying and paying. Though expensive, the cleaning fluid does last a long time and is a big bottle. The pads on the other hand, retail at upwards of £2.50 for six, and I haven't found them cheaper anywhere. My house is only small, but after two or so rooms the pad is so clogged it won't pick up anything else. No, I do clean regularly, I think it might be something to do with the fact my floors are largely wood or tile!
I have watered the liquid down on occasion or used washing up liquid which seems to work just as well. You do need to keep the Flash bottle slotted in there though as it's a weird shape.

Although it can pick up dirt fairly well, it has the problem that it often just pushes dirt into one place rather than picking it up, which is annoying. Usually it means I have to push it all in one place and then get down on my hands and knees and run a tissue or cloth over the rest.

I've also found it confuses people a lot when they're trying to use it - good thing it comes with instructions!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Flash Power mop is extremely convenient

I feel like an old maid writing this review! A review about a mop!? Its hardly glamorous really, is it? But then I mostly have Baby Brain, so my life has taken a drastic change in the past two years. But this mop is great. I love cleaning the floor with it! What on earth has my life become?

In Asda a few weeks back they were promoting the Power Mop at £10, so needing a new mop I popped one in my trolley to give it a go. It was in a rather large purple box and I assume they weren't selling very well as there were lots left on the shelf. But I'm always open to trying things that will make my chores quicker When I got home and unpacked the groceries I thought Id give it a whirl, so I opened the box and began to build the mop. When I got to popping in the batteries I saw that the date they expired on was in 2005; so it was a huge clue that the power mop had been sitting in Asda for a LONG time. I popped them into the mop anyway just to see if they worked, and they were fine so everything was ready to go.

A few swooshes around and I had an immaculate floor in less than 5 minutes. Wonderful.

What the idea behind it is:
                  +++++++++++++++++++

The mop has a bottle of floor cleaner attached to the handle and essentially the idea is to spritz the floor with the cleaner by pressing a button on the mop handle and then wipe the floor with the cleaning pad. Simple, but effective. I find cleaning the floor is a really horrible job. It is possibly my least favourite of all the household chores. I suppose no one really enjoys chores, but I particularly find mopping to be a pain. The whole ritual of boiling the kettle, lugging in the mop bucket, finding floor cleaner, filling the bucket, dragging the bucket around the floor as I mop, really annoys me. We only have 2 rooms that need mopped- the kitchen and bathroom which are tiled. So its not as if I have loads of mopping to do, it is just that I am incredibly lazy when it comes to starting it. With the power mop there is none of that tediousness I have just listed. You don't even have to turn it on! Simply clange the absorbent cleaning bad before you begin to clean and spritz the cleaner until your heart is content.

                  Flash Super Absorbant Cleaning Pads
                  +++++++++++++++++++++++++++
For the power mop, you will need to buy a box of cleaning pads. These come in a box of 6 for around £2.99. They stick on to the bottom of the mop by a Velcro strip and they do not come off while you are cleaning. They are very simple to attach and remove, and I also find them highly effective at cleaning. They have a lock-away core (sounds like a sanitary towel and the truth be told it looks like a humongous one too!) and there are two loose wings at the side. I often wondered what these spare bits of fabric were, but I have the box in front of me now and I can see that they are called 'Cleaning cuffs' to trap the larger dirt and hair particles.

One power pad is advertised to clean up to 3 rooms and the * states '*Based on average European room size of 15m2 with on average 50% of the floor unfurnished and requiring cleaning' What a mouthful! Personally I use one pad to start my kitchen and when the kitchen is done I take the mop to the bathroom and clean up there. After that I throw the pad away. It lasts beautifully and I would imagine if I needed it for another room it would be perfectly fine. You cannot flush these pads down the loo.

                  Flash Power Mop Solution
                  +++++++++++++++++++

The power mop came with a small bottle of power mop solution but it was quickly wasted while I played with my new gadget. I have only ever seen this in the lemon fragrance, which is quite nice and very fresh smelling. When people come around and the floor has been cleaned they often comment on the lovely smell. The bottle costs around £2.99 for 1 litre. It does last quite well when you are using the mop sensibly, although I find myself having fun with it and spraying much more solution than I should (it makes a cute humming sound when you spray)

The bottle clips into the shaft of the power mop and I find that the spray cuts through grease and dirt very effectively. It is no less effective than the way I used to clean the floor. It dries quickly leaving no marks or residue. I ran out of the solution once and tried every other bottle I could find and none would fit, then I tried to refill the old bottle and it was completely shut... so you are stuck with buying only flash.

                  Mop Ergonomics
                  ++++++++++++
When the mop arrives in the box it is only a few poles, a rubber handle and a plate, but when you have it all assembled it looks like any other modern floor cleaner. It is a good height for me at 5foot 4, my husband has never ever, ever, ever, tried to mop the floor, so I have no idea of how good the height is for a taller person. However my hubby showed interest when he first heard the little whirling buzzing noise of the spray. I tend to spray far too much as I love watching it squirt out in little droplets. However it can sometimes be hard to judge where the spray is landing and so I have missed the odd patch which is fine, but when it dries you can see the droplet marks.

There is a rough section on the top of the mop and it is designed to scour away rough dirty marks. I have never used this part and frankly I have no idea how I would ever manage to use it as it is in the most awkward part of the mop possible!
                  Recommend the mop?
                  ++++++++++++++++

I really love my Power Mop. As silly as it sounds, it makes cleaning fun. It's a laugh to wizz around the floor with the buzzing noise and my little boy also finds it hilarious. Although little boys find lots of ridiculous things funny. I love how instantly the floor dries afterwards and I love the smell. So if anyone out there is looking for a quicker way to clean up then this is it! It's so manoeuvrable that it makes everything effortless. Two thumbs up from me.

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

An innovative cleaning mop which makes cleaning quick, eay, not messy and fun!

I tease him about it but my husband is an absolute clean freak and we can never leave sainburys without purchasing at least one cleaning product so it came as no surpirse that he came back with the Flash Power mop a few months back.
The Flash power mop consists of three elements, the mop itself, the flash liquid which comes in a bottle and the flash cleaning pads.
You can buy an initial starter pack with all those products in for about £19.99. The mop portion then lasts forever, you can then buy the flash liquid and the pads separately. The pads cost approximately £3 for 6 refills and a 1 litre bottle of liquid costs the same.
We have ceramic floors in our kitchen and all of our bathrooms so this mop is really great. You can also use it on wood and laminate floors, kitchen tiles and linoleum.

The mop offers a number of different benefits.
Firstly the mop itself is quite tall so you do not have to bend your back to do the hard work. It is also lightweight but sturdy so makes scrubbing hard to move dirt easy. It also has a rotating head so gets into corners and around furniture easily.

Secondly the Flash liquid comes in a bottle with a cap that you do not have to remove, you just slot it into a holder in the mop and then it is ready to use so you do not get any mess from a leaky bottle. There is a powered spray action button on the mop that spreads the liquid on the floor evenly and widely for you so again very easy and not messy.
Lastly the absorbent cleaning pads are three layers thick so super absorbent and do not drip. They are easy to attach to the mop and easy to get rid of after use. They are also re-usable. I find I can wash the kitchen floor about three time before I need to replace a pad. Once the floor is wet it dries quite quickly as well unlike if you washed it yourself with soap and water and there is no need to rinse afterwards either. It leaves a pleasant smell, not too much like antiseptic! It really does make my floors sparkle and I think leaves them looking really nice and clean.

All in all a great cleaning product addition that is quick, easy and effective!

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

Alright, so it's not a light sabre. But it works.

The flash mop is less a kitchen aid and more of a light sabre.

OK, so it isn't THAT exciting. It's still just a mop. But it makes very light work of wooden or tiled floors. And it does make a buzzing noise that could give a very imaginative cleaner the idea that they were wielding a weapon of the future.

The basic kit costs around £20 (but available more cheaply if you look out for the right offers). The mop consists of an aluminium handle with a handy hanging loop and a cushioned grip, and a bottom section with a receptable for the cleaning fluid, and a velcro-laden pad holder. To use, you simply click in the cleaning fluid, whack a pad (basically designed like a giant sanitary towel) onto the end of the mop, and you're ready to go. No faffing with buckets and cloths, and no rubber gloves needed!

One of the reasons this mop really works is that it has a small battery-powered squirter. Press a button in the handle of the mop, and cleaning fluid is sprayed onto the floor in front of it (hence the light sabre "buzz"!!). This really works much better than wipes, which tend to run out of cleaning fluid in a matter of seconds, leaving you more completely in charge to direct the fluid towards areas needing a bit of extra attention. The cleaning fluid itself smells fresh, works extremely well even on grease and grime, and dries quickly, and the pads do a great job of absorbing everything and keeping it locked away.

As this might suggest, you need to keep up a supply of three disposables: cleaning fluid (around £2.50 a bottle), cleaning pads (usually about £3 for 6) and AA batteries, so this isn't the cheapest floor-cleaning solution on the market by a long chalk. These run out at different rates. One gleaming white cleaning pad will clean up to three rooms before you dispose of it, aghast at how much dirt it has managed to soak up. A bottle of cleaning fluid lasts me about 4-6 weeks, washing the bottom floor of my house once or twice a week. The batteries, however, go on for ages and ages- I've had my mop for a year and a half, and mine are showing no signs of flagging.

One gripe I havewith the mop is the scrubber. This is a small piece of scourer which comes with the cleaning pads. It is designed to stick on the side of the mop so that you can tackle tough stains by turning the mop to one side. However, it's actually extremely difficult to manouevre the mop this way with the cleaning fluid attached - though it's very well balanced when you're using the pad, the moment you try to scrub, it slips and slides all over the place. I find it easier just to apply a bit of elbow grease, personally.

Another factor to consider is sustainability. I feel guilty every time I dispose of one of the pads - this isn't half as green (or cheap) a method of cleaning the floors as a good old fashioned floor cloth.

All in all, though, this is one gadget that really has made my life easier - it's quick, hygienic and easy to use.

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

an alternative to a mop and bucket

I've had my Flash power mop for over a year now, and managed to buy it when it was on a promotional price of £7.99. Today's price in Sainsbury's is £19.98, but I suspect if you shop around it can still be found for under a tenner.

Originally I bought this mop as a couple of my friends had one, and it looked like a much easier way of cleaning my floors quicker and easier than with a mop and bucket.

In the box you will get a basic mop structure which consists of poles to be slotted together, then top end having a rubber grip attached for non slippage and also a hook for storage off the ground surfaces when not in use. The bottom panel is a mop head, which consists of a flat plastic plate, where you attach removable cleaning pads to, as well as a raised area on one edge for a scrubber type cloth which can act for more stubborn marks to be removed..
Near the bottom of the pole there is also a contraption to hold the plastic liquid cleaner which slots into place, and will only fit one way you'll be pleased to know. This then enables the liquid to pass through to the bottom nozzle where it can escape to the floor when the button is pressed on the handle at the top.
The mop does require two AA batteries to enable the motor to work, but these were included in my pack and I still haven't had to change them as yet, as it requires minimum power to control the nozzle.
There are instructions as to how to assemble the mop, but it's not too difficult to work out what bit goes where.

Once assembled, you then have to attach a cleaning pad to the bottom of the mop head, which is done via a Velcro attachment. In the pack you will be provided with three of these pads, which clean approximately three rooms before you need to change them. This of course depends on the size and how dirty the floor is. I tend to find I can get more usage from the lounge and dining rooms as I can from a kitchen floor which require more frequent changing..
As I mentioned the bottle of cleaning liquid which is also provided then slots into place, and it really does only fit one way which is a bonus.
Batteries inserted and it's off you go. The whole mop system is very lightweight which is a good plus for me.

Pressing the button to enable the cleaner liquid to be squirted out, I always laugh at the noise the mop makes, as it's a whirring motor noise. I do tend to jazz up my boring cleaning routine by pressing the button randomly to enable longer and then shorter bursts of liquid to escape, thus making a little tune as I go.
I find as the liquid squirts out at an angle to the floor, unless you are looking at the floor at the right angle, you can't tell exactly where the liquid is going. Too many times I have been too close to the sofa etc and managed to leave a damp area behind me on furniture. Practice makes perfect here as the more you mop, the more you get used to how it works.

As you can control the flow of liquid more than with a mop and bucket, drying time is almost instantaneous with this mop, compared to the more traditional method. It also works better on laminate flooring as it doesn't get chance to soak through and damage the flooring.
The downsides however to this mop as opposed to a mop and bucket, is I find that if there is a really stubborn stain (not in my house I assure you!), then the scouring pad on the side doesn't always shift it, and I worry if I press down too hard with the mop then I'll break it, as effectively the majority of the bits are made from plastic. I haven't managed to do this yet thankfully.
The head of the mop is also quite difficult to twist whilst still being in control, and I can never quite get the scourer pad to end up in the position I want it to without physically manhandling it.

According to the manufacturers, a one litre bottle of the cleaner liquid will last around two months. Well I guess that depends on how many floors you have to wash and how often you wash them, but I would tentatively agree with this. The one downside here, is that refill bottles cost £2.99 and you have no choice but to get the Flash branded bottle designed specifically for this mop.
The pads also need replacing fairly often and this is where the expense can come into play. At another £2.99 for 6 replacement pads, again you have to buy the Flash branded ones for this mop. I always forget to buy a pack when I'm running out and then find the mop goes unused for a few weeks whilst I get the old mop and bucket out again because I have no other choice.
The mop definitely makes my life easier and I find cleaning floors takes me half the time as it may otherwise. For this reason, I'll continue to buy the replacement parts when needed.
