Advantages: Quick and easy to use

Disadvantages: Sucks you into buying Flash products, design flaws....

The Flash Power Mop (FPM) is a great idea if you want to discard that stinky and unhygenic old fashioned mop and bucket.
You simply press the trigger which activates a spray of floor cleaner from the attached bottle, then mop your floors.
It comes with a few cleaning pads which attach with velcro to the mop head, and a small bottle of cleaning fluid.
The BIG downside is that you are then hooked into buying Flash priducts, because no other pad is suitable for the mop, and because the bottle is not refillable, so you have to purchase a new bottle every time, at about £3 a pop, as well as a pack of pads at about the same price.
This works out pretty expensive if, like me, you clean a few times a week, have a house of laminate/tile flooring, and are cleaning up spills and messes made by two kids under 2!
The pads don't last more than a few times, and sometimes just seem to spread the dirt about rather than catching it despite there being two 'flaps' on the pads to catch the hair and dirt - it just doesn't seem to work that effectively.
Also, you need to shell out for batteries to run the trigger mechanism.
There is also the problem of the availability of the liquid and pads - some supermarkets just do not seem to stock them, or only stock the Ocean liquid when I prefer the Lemon one!!

I have had two of these mops and am about to buy my third - why? The first one, the trigger mechanism broke and stopped working, so no spray. The second mop just completely broke in half at the join, right through the metal pole. Each lasted about a year (probably a bit less) despite the 2 year guarantee by the manufacturer.
However, depsite these shortcomings, I would still rather use this than get out a floor bucket and mop, and have all the hassle of filling buckets and cleaning mop heads etc.

It's an okay product but does have inherant design flaws.

Summary: Quick and easier than a mop and bucket....

I have the problems with the moving dirt around and always buying replacement products too. Mine isn't battery powered though so I'm lucky there. I find diluting the liquid or even using washing up liquid or a cheap cleaner (just put in the Flash bottle) works just as 'well'.
