Advantages: Easy to use and good value

Disadvantages: may irritate skin

My wife does most of the choosing of the cleaning products in our as she is fully fledged cleanaholic! And this really is her domain. She will usually buy separate cleaners for each part of the house, for example a separate bathroom and kitchen cleaner, is this really necessary? On my way home from work she asked me to pick up a few bits of shopping from our local Tesco on that list was bathroom cleaner as she had run out. When I looked on the shelf I was in amazement at how may cleaning products there were available and all the different types. I came across Flash with bleach, now I knew this would be ok as Flash is a well known brand, it was £1.60 for a 500ml bottle which I didn't think was too expensive, cif had something similar for £2.50 for a 750ml bottle and Tesco's own was £1.50 for a 500ml bottle so I thought the flash version was a rather good buy.

The thing that I noticed first about the product was that it was for use in a bathroom or kitchen so you didn't have to buy to separate cleaners as my wife does. It states that it can be used on sinks, tiles, cookers, work surfaces and any surfaces made of porcelain enamel.

The bottle itself is white plastic with simple advertising and sufficient information on the back of the bottle. The spray is used by turning the safety cap on the nozzle to on (which would be difficult for a small child to turn) and spraying on the surface, then wiping away, for more soiled surfaces such as a really dirty cooker top you can leave it to do it's magic for a minute.

There are safety instructions on the back of the bottle which we all need when using any product with bleach as bleach can be harmful. Obviously it says that you should keep out of reach of children but I think most of us know that and keep any products like these securely away, plus the safety nozzle does help for extra protection. It tells you what to do if you get it in your eyes or swallow it so in all good safety advice shown. When using this product if you don't use gloves (which we don't) you should rinse your hands thoroughly. I noticed as did my wife that when using this product it left our hands feeling much coated with the spray and rather itchy so it's vital that you wash your hands straight after use to avoid any irritation to your skin. It also states that you shouldn't use this spray with any other product; my argument is that if you have this cleaner you shouldn't need any other one, it does the job.

The spray itself is easy to spray out and you find that not too much comes out at a time so you are using the minimal amount needed. When it comes out it comes out quite foamy, which I like as it shows you where you are putting the spray and you can determine exactly how much you use. Some of the clear ones don't last as long as you can use them too extravagantly as she can't see the amount you are using. The smell I can only describe as bleach smelling which is nice as it smells clean; my wife loves the smell of bleach. |she says that if she walks in a room and smells bleach she knows the room is clean.

The spray worked really well in the kitchen, particularly on the cooker top. This always gets really dirty, I'm a chef so I do make a few splashes here and there when cooking (I call it being inventive) so a good cleaner is needed for the cooker top after. With this spray I sprayed it on left it for a minute went back and it wiped it clean straight away. This I love as cleaning seems so much more effortless, some my wife use you have to work harder to get rid of the grime. It worked well on the kitchen surfaces leaving them squeaky clean and hygienic. On the kitchen tiles cleaning them with this spray was effortless, and it even made them have a bit if a shine, my wife uses glass cleaner usually on the tiles which I feel is pointless especially with this spray as I feel it does the job that a glass does without buying the extra cleaning product.

If I'm being honest I will tell you that I really don't ever clean the bathroom, my wife does this as she cleans it daily which in my opinion is too much, but it's hard to break old habits. When she used it in the bathroom she was impressed, she said it was very easy to use. I think what she meant by this is that she didn't have to take numerous different cleaners with her, the one did it all. She said it worked well on the bath and easily wiped away all the scum marks without using a scourers, she did leave the spray to work for a minute and felt that on a bath you would need to do this. She said the sink was easy and just sprayed and wiped. As with most of us a bathroom sink is only really used for a quick face wash and brushing our teeth so it really doesn't get that dirty and a wipe is all it needs. She also used it on the toilet, she sprayed it all round the rim and wiped away, she loved this as she could smell the bleach in the spray without having to grab for her bottle of bleach.

To sum it up I would say that Flash spray with bleach was a really good buy, it was reasonably priced and no more expensive than the Tesco brand and cheaper than other leading brands. It works really well on lots of household surfaces especially bathroom and kitchen. As it does lots of household areas you don't need to buy lots of separate cleaning products, making cleaning cheaper and more hassle free. The smell was a bleach smell which left you knowing that you have cleaned a room and it was fresh. The only downside I can think of is that it did irritate our hands a bit, but if you use gloves you won't feel this, if you don't use gloves then just make sure you wash your hands after use. Also like most products with bleach you just have to make sure you follow and read the safety instructions.

Summary: Great buy for lots of uses in the house
