Advantages: Fill the room with a wonderful aroma
Disadvantages: None
It's that time of year again when I like to fill my house with candles. The short dreary days and long, cold, dark nights need a little something the brighten them up and what better way to do this than to fill the house with the little dancing flames from scented candles. Low lighting and a number of candles help to create a cosy, inviting atmosphere.
In general I do tend to use scented candles but am always a bit sceptical as to whether or not they actually do scent the room. I tend to buy Glade products when choosing any scented items for my house as I prefer the range of scents they offer. I have always used their scented candles but when I was in Tesco the other day I noticed a special offer for Glade 2 Scents Candles, I'd never seen these ones before and, as I am one who never likes to turn down a good deal or special offer, I thought I would give them a try. Usually £2.99 you can save £1 at the moment in Tesco and buy the candle for £1.99.
Being that festive time of year I opted to buy the Glade 2 Scents Seasonal Spice Candle, which offers scents of nutmeg, winter rose and cinnamon, and as one candle is never enough for me I also decided to choose the Glade 2 Scents Coffee House Candle, offering rich scents of café latte topped with vanilla. (Also available are Precious Garden and Tropical Fusion, but I have yet to try these ones).
These candles come in attractive rounded glass holders with little dimples on the outside and a cardboard sleeve for protection with all the product details written on this. The candle roughly fills about three quarters of the glass holder and cannot be removed. These candles, as the name would suggest, are designed with 2 fragrance layers one scent gradually merging into the other. The seasonal spice one is red with a white layer at the top and the coffee house one is a coffee colour with a white layer on top. The candle is supposed to burn slowly through the first scent and gradually merge into the second scent. The wick, which is a very easily lit wick, should be trimmed before lighting. The wick burns slowly giving at least 25-30 hours of burning time, which I think is great! The first layer has quite a subtle scent, not too strong but definitely lightly scenting the room. As we gradually reach the second layer we are met with a more robust, stronger scent as we enter the room, I find this wonderful aroma very pleasant, giving the room a lovely, cosy, inviting feel. Both of the candles I have tried produce lovely aromas within the room they are burning. I found the strongest scent from the Seasonal Spice candle was the cinnamon, whilst the Coffee House one I felt was more of the vanilla scent with quite a strong sweet smell.
Of course, care should always be taken whilst burning candles, placing the candles on a heat resistant, solid surface. Never leave the candle unattended and never lift the glass holder whilst the candle is burning.
