Advantages: nice smell, good price

I was on my weekly shop as always with a big list of things that had sprung to mind that I needed to buy and on that list was air freshener. I am not someone who bothers about brands with something like this, as long as it smells nice and isn't too overpriced then I am happy. I went down the aisle in my local supermarket and was soon surprised to see that there was actually quite a big range. There are so many to choose from, there's your plug in ones that the heat spreads the scent about the room, then there's the fake candle one that has a battery and has a candle like glow but is scented and then you have your ones you put anywhere and pull back the lid to reveal the smell but I just wanted a simple spray.
I opted for the Glade spray as it was probably the cheapest but this wasn't my main reasoning, it was because they did the smell that I liked the most. The packaging on the can is quite nice, it stands out on the shelf; well I chose the Magnolia & Vanilla spray so it overall has a pale yellow colour to it. The picture is of some flowers a floral scene which is pretty and relaxing, it has an almost paradise like look to it. The blue sky behind is also warm and on top of this is the Glade logo. The spray comes in a 300ml spray can.
On the back of the can, are the instructions of how to use. It clearly states to shake the can beforehand and then to point it centrally in the room. It states for safety to not have it in contact with sunlight or temperatures over 50 degrees and to keep out of reach of all flames and out of the way of children.
Being at university, there are a lot of people who don't seem to open windows and cause a staleness smell to creep in which is part of the reason why I bought Glade. I always air out rooms but this gives a fresher, nicer smell to any space. Also, even though no one is meant to smoke indoors there is always one who never listens which again is why I needed spray because I hate the smell of smoke, it lingers and isn't pleasant which is one of the smells in life I hate. I hoped this would get rid of these smells because otherwise I'd have to find an alternative. In the past I have used Febreze but I do find the smell a bit too heavy even though it does get rid of the odours around.
So I begin to shake the spray can as directed to on the can and then push down the button at the top to release the spray. A powerful spray comes out while the scent rains down over the room, engulfing it in a sweet but quite light vanilla scent. The smell is very refreshing and a lot better than before, even though after about 15 minutes the smell does fade, with it the smell does to so that you are left with no musty or smokey scents to creep back into the air.
As I have mentioned, I do use this spray in all different smelly scenarios to really test it and to see how effective it is in more than one situation. It definitely tackles everything thrown at it, I've used it over smoke, mustiness, unpleasant smells, smokey kitchens and so on and it has gone sweet and then drifted back to a normal fresh smelling air again. It says it is a 2 in 1 fragrance but I don't really smell the magnolia, this could be because I love the smell of vanilla and it probably is a more overpowering smell.
I have seen these sprays at most supermarkets and healthy and beauty stores where you would most likely pick up an air freshener. There are a few different smells in the Glade Aerosols range, obviously Magnolia & Vanilla, Clean Linen and Soft Petals; I cannot find the last one in the range. I picked my Glade Aerosol up at Tesco and it cost me £1. I have had my spray for a good few months and it had lasted really well.
SC Johnson make the Glade products so for more product information, click onto the official website at http://www.scjohnson.co.uk/ here you can click on the room you want a spray for and then you are given the options of further information and you can click Aerosols. I would say though that there is not a lot of information on the website about the aerosols which is a bit useless if you were looking to find more out.
As said before, I have used a lot of sprays but Glade have been a brand that have probably worked the best in cancelling out bad odours and I like the scents in their range. They offer good long lasting sprays for a good price.

- 12/05/09 I like the Clean Linen fragrance too but as with most of those sprays they are flammable so you do have to watch out. |
