“ Brand: Glade / Type: Scented Candle / Category: Home Fragrance „
We moved into a new house recently and for the first few days, my fiancé repeatedly complained that it didn't smell like our house, because our house smells like Yankee Candles! As it was I couldn't locate the box my Yankee Candles were in, so I picked up this Glade Moments candle with our weekly shop.
There were four candles available - the Pomegranate and Cranberry fragrance (which is the one I bought) Bali Sandalwood and Jasmine, White flower and Peony and crisp snow and spruce. I purchased this one simply because I thought it smelled the nicest of the four.
The candle comes in a glass holder ad the only packaging is a cardboard sleeve. The actual glass has a fairly heavy base and the top is a wavy shape, which makes it look quite nice when on display. The size is around the size of a small whisky tumbler and the wax of this particular candle is red.
As I mentioned, it was the scent that made me choose this candle and it really does smell lovely. It's incredibly fruity with the cranberry being the more dominant of the two fragrances, but the pomegranate still noticeable and giving it a little bit of a zing. I found the fragrance to be perfect for Christmas too, which is when we burned it.
When we lit this candle it didn't take very long for the scent to start coming out. It is quite a strong fragrance, yet never feels overpowering and that is what impressed me the most about this candle. I put it on the fireplace in our living room and I could smell it all throughout the downstairs of my house and even on the upstairs landing which I felt was pretty impressive for such a small candle, so it really is packed with fragrance.
On a more negative note, I found that the candle did not burn evenly and created a tunnel effect, leaving me with a ring of wax around the side of the glass which hadn't burned away. Glade specify a burn time of 30 hours on the packaging, however I think that is a fairly optimistic estimate. I did not go so far as to count how long this burned for, but I'd say it was closer to the 20 hour mark.
I paid £3 for this candle, whereas the full price is £6 from ASDA. I don't think I would be happy to pay the full price, I think £4.50 is probably the maximum I'd go to, given the burn time and the fact a lot of wax is wasted as the candle burns down in a tunnel. At £3 though, I am more than happy and may even try a few of the other fragrances whilst they are still on special offer.
So, to sum up, this candle wins on looks, scent and strength, but fails on burn time and price (assuming it's not on offer). If you can find it a little cheaper than the RRP then I would be happy to recommend this candle.
