Advantages: Whitens and brightens clothes
Disadvantages: None
This is a review for Dr Beckmann Glowhite (5x40g), which was formerly Glo White Super Whitener. Apparently it is the UK's number 1 fabric whitener and to be honest I can't think of any competitors.
I bought this product because I had a white shirt and skirt, which were looking a little grubby, and I wanted them to look as good as new. The shirt had a distinct yellow tinge from wearing it on holiday whilst I was smothered in sun cream, so it looked like it had been subjected to a 60-a-day smoking habit, which isn't the look I wanted. I didn't want to use bleach as that can damage your clothes and it smells disgusting.
The Glowhite is really easy to use and can be used on all sorts of clothing. You can use these on washing temperatures as low as 30°C or as high as 95°C and they can be used on colourfast items.
You get 5 sachets in a box and at £1.79 I think that's excellent value, as you're reviving your clothes so you don't have to throw them away. You simply pop one of the sachets into the back of your washing machine on top of your laundry, then add your usual washing detergent as normal. The sachets are porous like a teabag, so as your clothes are being washed, they release the whitening agent into the machine. You need to remove the sachet at the end of the washing cycle.
My shirt and skirt both came up brilliantly white and looked as good as new, so I was really impressed with the results. An added bonus is the UV protection that Glowhite gives. Apparently a normal T-shirt has a UPF range of 3-6 and the amount of UV radiation blocked is inadequate. Compare this to a T-shirt that has been washed in Glowhite where the UPF range is 15-20 UV and the radiation blocked is 93.3% - 95.9%. This is good if you're going abroad to a country where the sun is very strong, as you will have added protection in the clothes you're wearing.
Glowhite doesn't contain bleach, but it boosts the whitening performance of your washing powder or liquid to give it super grime-fighting powers. Glowhite is a nifty little product, which gives your clothes a new lease of life, so it can help you be thrifty with your wardrobe.
Summary: Does what it says on the box
