Also, if you have an Ikea kitchen with ... more  ... the right sized drawers, you can lay them on the open drawer to cut on them, thereby saving precious countertop space, although I'm always afraid that any drawer might not be sturdy enough to handle that pressure - even an Ikea one. But what's really good about the handles is that they actually keep the bottom of the cutting board slightly up off of your countertop so that if its wet, and you don't hang it up, the wood still has some air flow underneath it so it will still dry nicely.

I really love wooden cutting boards, but the one thing I really hate is trying to keep them from get waterlogged after I've cleaned them off. Since you can't really towel dry a wooden cutting board, you have to stand it up somewhere, like in a dish drainer. Since that takes up lots of drainer space, I often ended up propping these up behind the sink faucet. Of course, that meant that these got splashed with lots of more water and even if you're a real clean freak and dry up your sink area after you've finished washing up, you'll still end up with the ends of your wooden cutting boards standing on something someplace.
