Advantages: Clean loo.
Disadvantages: none.
I have just finished an eight month battle with my loo. It began one late summer evening when i peered into the toilet of my brand new house only to discover that my toilet bowl had not seen a loo brush or bleach for what looked like a decade. Discusted i set to work with no avail. No matter how much bleach or elbow grease i used that awful yellow gung would not move. I tried on and off for eight months with every type of product but the results were pretty lame. As a last ditch attempt before buying a new loo i picked up a packet of Harpic 100% limescale removal power tablets. They advertised 100% removal with no scrubbing. HA! Like hell that discusting rankness would go without a fight.
I can now clear my throat and sing its praises!
Packet
The tablets come in a small blue and white box with a perforated side opening. Each tablet is wrapped in a small bag. It contains eight tablets.
Using the tablets.
The tablets can be used in different ways. For general cleaning the packet recommends one tablet a week to be put into the toilet bowl and left for six hours.
For heavy build up which was more up my street i was instructed to deposit two tablets into the bowl and leave overnight.
The small bags were easy to tear open so i didnt need to fish about for scissors, as soon as they went into the water it began to sizzle and foam in the water (Probably with the shock of how much rankness was down there).
The final battle began.
This moning i got up and prepared myself for a smug victory from the colony of ming at the bottom of my loo. I flushed the toilet and peered in.
Shocking!!! The loo bowl was sparkling clean! The entire germ civilisation had been wiped out in one night! I stood victorious after finishing my war dance. All this and not a loo brush in sight!
These tablets are my heros and i recommend them to everybody who is suffering at the hands of limescale.
Apart from all this the tablets have other benefits.
Firstly they clean in all the places you cant get your toilet brush into including the U-bend, they also kill all bacteria under the waterline. They can be used in the septic tank as well which i'm going to tackle tonight but best of all as i said before there is no need to scrub.
The bad points. Yes there are some but not anything that would stop me buying this product again.
First the tablets do not clean above the waterline and under the rim(obviously) so you would still need to bleach and wipe that part of the bowl yourself although on the packet they do advertise Harpic 100% remover for that part.
They are also an irritant to skin and eyes, the box is clearly marked with an orange and black X and has a list of safety instructions including what to do should you swallow?!?! a tablet.
Overall i love this, its made life in my toilet that bit fresher and at a good cost. Only £2.49 for the eight tablets which if you cleaned once a week would last you eight weeks. I'm going to continue using this product, after all i dont need to scrub ever again!
You should give it a try i really think you'll be impressed!
Thanks for reading.
Summary: Germs? Where? Not in my toilet!
