Advantages: Does what it says on the packaging, the best product I've ever used!

I bought this product after trying almost every other product on the market for removing limescale in my toilet. I had a little bit in the bottom but couldn't remove it, no matter what I tried. Then I saw Harpic Power Plus, so I decided it was worth a try... something had to work didn't it?!

Harpic Power Plus is available in most Supermarkets and is priced from about £1.49. It comes in a black bottle with a red safety lid, and is shaped like any normal toilet cleaner for easy application under the rim.

**** The Hype ****

According to the packaging, "Harpic Power Plus has been specially designed as the ultimate answer to tough toilet stain removal. It's unique power cleaning formula penetrates and dissolves even the toughest stains, right before your eyes. The thick gel covers and sticks to the toilet bowl - even right under the rim". The product is also said to kill all germs and eliminate limescale. The bottle also states the this product is the "most powerful toilet cleaner*". (* on rust and limescale). Also perfectly safe for use in septic tanks.
Perfect! Let's hope it works then...

**** To Use ****

This toilet cleaner is quite easy to use. You simply apply the product all around the toilet bowl, including under the rim by squeezing the bottle. The instructions recommend to leave for 10 minutes to get rid of really tough stains or 1 hour to kill all germs. Easy peasy!

**** My Opinion ****

I wasn't really expecting anything different from this cleaner as there are so many products out there that promise the exact same thing that this one did. I have to say for some reason the black packaging drew me to this particulur item as it made me think of "the ultimate product" (so the designers did their job well then didn't they?). I took off the lid and applied the cleaner to my toilet as directed. It is a dark blue colour and smells really familiar, although I can't think what of (think its germolene or something like that)! It's a kind of menthol smell, like something you would get in your medicine cabinet. Not really a bad smell, although not what I expected, so no loss of points there. The cleaner really does cling to the toilet like it says it does. Much better than any other product of this type that I have used before.

I left the cleaner on for about an hour or so, and went back to clean my toilet. The blue was still there and had definitely clung to the toilet quite well. I put a generous amount on so some had sunk but that was a good thing as the limescale is right at the bottom of the bowl. I scrubbed at the toilet and was quite surprised to see some of the limescale coming away as no other product had even touched it, not even the leave-overnight tablets that you put in the bowl (and I used more than recommended at that!). The product itself took some removing as it had really clung to the bowl. Now it didn't remove all of the limescale but it definitely started to and after a couple of applications all of the limescale had been removed. I wonder why I spent all that money on all the other products?

**** Warnings ****

The product causes burns as it contains hydrochloric acid and so contact with skin and especially eyes is not recommended. If this does happen, you should rinse with water and seek medical advice, especially in the event of getting it in your eyes. It is advisable that you keep the bottle out of the reach of any children. You must not mix with bleach or other cleaning products and only use in the toilet bowl. The product itself is marked clearly with all warnings and as corrosive.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. It is the best product of this type that I have used and although it doesn't work miracles and get rid of everything first time, it does the job much better than anything else on the market in my opinion. I cant fault it in any way.
