Advantages: Cleans the toilet; Gets rid of limescale; Powerful
Disadvantages: None
I brought a bottle of this after I noticed there was quite a bit of limescale in the main upstairs bathroom, none of the other cleaners were shifting it and even pure bleach was struggling and not doing a very good job.
It cost £1.65 in Morrisons and is in a black and red bottle that makes it look like it's going to be more effective than other brands.
It's a thick blue liquid that you pour under the rim of the toilet, the bottle is designed so the nozzle is at just the right angle for applying under the rim. It clings good and as it runs down the toilet bowl it sticks to it so that eventually the whole of the inside of the bowl will be covered. If your toilet just needs a light clean you leave it on for 10 minutes but if the loo is minging then you can leave it on for a few hours to work its magic.
I wanted rid of the limescale so because it's only me and my sister who uses this bathroom I left it on overnight and when I flushed it away in the morning the toilet bowl and under the rim was absolutely sparkling without me even having to rub it let alone scrub.
The limescale was nearly gone on the first application and completely removed by the second and I was dead pleased about that because however clean your toilet is limescale will always make it look manky.
One word of warning though, Harpic Power Plus contains hydrochloric acid and can burn if you get any on your skin, obviously it's not going to eat through your hand straight away (not for £1.65! lol) but make sure you wash your hands if you get any on you. Another thing is that you MUST NOT mix it with bleach, I found out the hard way the other day and am still wheezing a bit! I wanted to give the mop a proper good clean so put neat bleach in the bucket and then decided to add a bit of this for good measure, the fumes develop instantly and I was coughing for days and so was my dad who has got cast iron lungs!
I recommend this for tough stains in the toilet and limescale and even though it's a few pence dearer than other toilet cleaners the fact that you don't have to spend time scrubbing is brilliant!
