I shall very soon be replacing the Hob Brite with which I clean my ceramic hob after nearly a year of use. "Huh! She doesn't do much cooking" I hear you say. Close, but I do use my hob at least once daily. "I know, she just boils an egg on it". No, I fry in olive oil and things spatter. "Then she is dirty and leaves her hob all greasy". Not true, I clean it after each use. This couldn't be said for an acquaintance of mine who hadn't attended to her her cooker hob for what seemed like years. When it became clear that all the scraping in the world wasn't about to remove the burnt on ... Read the complete review

The ceramic and halogen hobs look good but it all depends if you can keep them looking good. Up until now I have always been used to an ordinary gas hob, four burners that need the occasional scrub to bring them back to life. Recently we have changed over and now we have a ceramic hob, at first it took a lot of getting used to, after being used to a visible flame it seemed strange to be cooking on a flat shiny hob. Initially I cleaned the hob with a soft cloth that had been washed through in hot soapy water and it worked but it soon became clear that I needed to use something else, the hob was showing slight marks and the surface was dulling. Wilkinson's ... Read the complete review

There's something about cooking on an electric glass top hob that gets very messy. For example, if a bit of water boils over, it leaves a nasty mark on the glass. With glass being one of the hardest things to get totally clean, it is very unforgiving, and therefore often seems to leave you with a dirty hob. At £1.70 a bottle, this isn't cheap, but it is totally neccessary for your hob. It is made to be non-scratch, and also contains conditioner to protect your hob surface. Unlike most other cream cleaners, it is very watery in consistency, which can be a pain (as I will explain in a minute), but it does make it a very non-aggressive cleaning ... We live in rented accomodation and recently our land lords gave us there old oven as they were having a new kitchen fitted. When it arrived our land lord fitting into the gap and handed us a carrier bag with a bottle of this stuff in it. Now I absolutely hate cleaning unless my hubby and I have fallen out and the I go on a mad one to vent my anger! I'm afraid I'm not one of those people that wipes the hob down after every meal much to my mums disgust. I let it build up for a few weeks then give it a big clean so it looks brand new again. Last night was one of those times. I was scrubbing away with hot soapy water and some of the burn marks just wouldn't shift ... Read the complete review

Ok, so I'll 'fess up! I am a bit of a Gordon Ffffff...ing Ramsay on the quiet and like nothing better than rustling up interesting little culinary masterpieces for my friends on my shiny black ceramic hob. However, my efforts in the kitchen would not be so much fun if I had not discovered Hob Brite (my very own Fairy Godmother!)... When I have finished with cooking my stir-fries/curries/pastas, I have to admit my kitchen resembles a warzone. A quick zip round with the squirty cleaner zaps most things but my hob, like any pedigree animal, needs just a little more care. Dried on spills, burnt food, oily marks...(yes, bet our Gordon is messy too!) all ... Read the complete review
