Advantages: it works

Disadvantages: a little effort required when scrubbing

Ok, so I'll 'fess up! I am a bit of a Gordon Ffffff...ing Ramsay on the quiet and like nothing better than rustling up interesting little culinary masterpieces for my friends on my shiny black ceramic hob.

However, my efforts in the kitchen would not be so much fun if I had not discovered Hob Brite (my very own Fairy Godmother!)... When I have finished with cooking my stir-fries/curries/pastas, I have to admit my kitchen resembles a warzone. A quick zip round with the squirty cleaner zaps most things but my hob, like any pedigree animal, needs just a little more care.

Dried on spills, burnt food, oily marks...(yes, bet our Gordon is messy too!) all completely spoil the oh-so-smart look of a ceramic hob - which is where Hob Brite comes in.

The product, in a distinctive orange and blue squeezy container, is recommended by every leading hob manufacturer and is suitable for ceramic and halogen hobs. After a rigorous shake, and after allowing the hob to cool completely, a small squeeze of the white cream onto either a piece of kitchen paper towel, or a clean cloth should then be rubbed lightly over the glass hob surface. This will then leave a smeary white residue which should be thoroughly rinsed and buffed to a shine with a clean paper towel.

The results are, frankly, amazing. Even gruesome burnt on marks come away with slightly more pressure (although you should avoid scrubbing) and hey presto! - hob's good as new again.

The price:

Although reasonably pricey at £1.85 for a 300ml bottle, it lasts quite a long time as only a little is needed for even the most stubborn spills.

Summary: Don't have kitchen nightmares!

Summary: good stuff
