Advantages: Cleans and smells nice.
Disadvantages: Leaves a white smear if you dont whipe away the residue.
We live in rented accomodation and recently our land lords gave us there old oven as they were having a new kitchen fitted. When it arrived our land lord fitting into the gap and handed us a carrier bag with a bottle of this stuff in it.
Now I absolutely hate cleaning unless my hubby and I have fallen out and the I go on a mad one to vent my anger! I'm afraid I'm not one of those people that wipes the hob down after every meal much to my mums disgust. I let it build up for a few weeks then give it a big clean so it looks brand new again. Last night was one of those times. I was scrubbing away with hot soapy water and some of the burn marks just wouldn't shift no matter how much elbow grease I used. As I was working up a sweat I suddenly remembered that I had a bottle of Hob Brite in the cupboard so out it came.
Hob brite is a cleaner for both halogen and ceramic hobs and it costs around £1.70 for a 300ml bottle. It is available from most supermarkets and is recommended by many electrical companies that specialise in ovens like Zanussi, Stoves and Rangemaster.
Hob brite is very similar to a cream cleaner when you pour some out of the bottle. It is white in colour and is of a medium consistency. The instructions recommend that you apply the cleaner with a paper towel or clean cloth, rub the glass lightly then rinse.
I found that the cream went onto my oven very easily and although I was tempted to leave it for five minutes on the tougher stains I didn't as I wanted to give it a real test. I gave it a rub almost as soon as I had applied the cream to the whole hob and it shifted without any problems at all. I was really surprised because there were some really big spots that had ingrained food on the oven.
When I had finished cleaning I did notice that I couldn't have wiped the cream off properly because there were white smears here and there. I ended up having to used a fairly dry cloth to get rid of it all but to be honest this was a small price to pay considering how easy it made my job.
One thing that I loved about this product is the fact that it atually smells nice and citrusy. I find that with most products related to cleaning ovens have a really potent smell that makes me cough. They also have tonnes of health warnings on them but Hob brite doesn't have this but it still does an amazing job of shifting the grime.
This stuff is a god send to a busy mum like me and I was so pleased with how quickly and easily it helped to make my hob clean. I would definately recommend it to other people as it cleans but doesn't damage.
Summary: This product is brillient.
