“ Brand: Homebase / Type: Paint „
As I have been sorting out the front and back garden of late I have been thinking of ways I can improve the items I have already got. So off I went to my local DIY Homebase for some tester pots.
Home of Colour Matt Emulsion - Mountain Rain:
'Home of Colour Matt Emulsion is a high quality emulsion creating a non-reflective finish which is ideal for hiding minor marks and imperfections'
I normally have a few tester pots from here and there as I enjoy making things like photo frames, gift boxes, planters etc. So getting tester pots is great for me as for what I use them for I don't need much. It saves me from buying a large tin which would just get dried up.
A few weeks back I sorted out the side of my house, naughty me really neglected it I had weeds growing left right and centre! Once I had cleared it away and laid the pebbles I wanted to place some potted plants but the pots I had well they looked very dated. So I game them a wash and off I went to paint them.
The pots on the front I used Mountain Rain and Moonlight. Mountain Rain is a simple matt emulsion and looks like a dark teal in the tub which looks a different colour to website photo. Dipping in my brush the paint has a medium thick consistency and when paint my pots it glides with ease going on ever so smoothly.
It recommends two coats however I was please with how it looked after one coat. It took around an thirty to forty minutes to dry completely but does say can take up to two hours. I guess as I only applied a light coat and it was a nice sunny day it dried much faster.
When this paint dries it goes lighter than how it looks in the tub and goes to pretty much like the colour shown on there website. I think it's like a light teal with more on a blue tone personally which with my white pebbles down the side of my house matched lovely.
One thing I hate when it comes to paint is the smell, and this has hardly any scent whatsoever which is great for me. Being asthmatic I have to be careful when it comes to fumes but this really had none but a slightly chalky scent.
As this paint is not waterproof and I wanted it for something outside I had to seal it with a coat of gloss afterwards to ensure it stayed how I wanted it to.
Price and Availability:
I purchased this as a tester pot as I wanted a few colours just for paint pots and bits and bobs in the garden. The tester pot is a 75ml and costs £1.49 but you can also get this in larger 2.5 liter tins for £14.49.
Well for the price I paid and the massive difference it has made to my pots I really am more than happy with the results given. Tester pots for me are a great way to update little items or fun with any craft project.
I still have over half a tub left in my tester pot which is making this for me excellent value for money!
Five out of five stars from me
