I bought this apple slicer from Ikea a year or so ago as I can't resist picking up little bits and pieces from the marketplace in Ikea. Everything seems so cheap there and i'm sure this was only a couple of pounds at the very most (but i can't remember the exact price).
I'm not a great fruit or vegetable eater and have to remind myself to eat them otherwise they just wouldn't feature in my diet very often! I like apple but not a big fan of just biting into one but equally wouldn't necessarily be that bothered about cutting one into slices even though i prefer it that way. This slicer seemed like the perfect easy option to tempt me into eating more apples!
It is so quick and easy to use - it slices the apple into 6 equal pieces and removes the core at the same time. As long as you get it pretty central on the apple before you push down it works very well.
The slicer is pretty sharp and cuts without too much pressure but you occasionally need to pull the core or a couple of the slices off if it hasn't cut through the skin completely at the bottom.

Its easy to wash up afterwards and i've also used it in the dishwasher though i'm not sure whether it is supposed to be dishwasher proof or not but i've had it a year and no problems and no rust or tarnishing.

The blades are quite sharp obviously so you do have to be careful and careful when you are washing up.

All in all a great little kitchen gadget. Yes it does exactly the same as what you can do with a knife but if you are like me (lazy!!) it is going to make a 2 minute job into a 2 second job!
