      Disadvantages

Brilliant cheaper alternative to my usual yankee

I purchased a few Tindra candles on my recent trip to Ikea, as an avid Yankee Candle fan, I have high expectations for candles but at just £1 I wasn't expecting much but they smelt gorgeous so thought I'd try them out. So far I have only used the Vanilla scented one. This comes in a glass jar, which is quite large, about the same as a small Yankee jar, there is a sticker on the side telling me this candle is from Ikea and also the barcode. It has a plastic lid on the top which has a picture of vanilla ice cream with a wafer, to use the candle you obviously have to remove this lid first which is easy as it is just stuck on with 3 bits of tape.

The wick is centred in the middle, and is easy to light with a standard lighter or match. However, as the candle burns it tends to burn down the centre but not around the sides, caused the wick to navigate further and further down, I then had to start using a long handled lighter to light the wick.

The vanilla smell is lovely. You can definitely smell it upon entering the room in which the candle is lit and is not too strong that it is sickly sweet.

The candles burn for a good few hours, I have never timed them exactly but for £1 you most definitely get your money's worth.

The jars are also nice to clean out once you have finished with candle and either make your own candles with or use to store small things such as cotton wool.

I will definitely purchase again and recommend but will be deducting a star for the way the centre melts but leaves a waste of wax down the side. However I do remove this wax that is leftover and make wax tarts or melts so it's not actually wasteful though many people may not do this.

        Disadvantages

A very average product - I don't think I would buy it again but it is really cheap!

        Ikea Tindra Candle - Natural/Vanilla

I bought this candle from Ikea a while ago, mainly because it was so cheap and because I could use the glass container for sampler candles or tea light afterwards and on the Ikea website is says 'When the candle has burnt itself out the cup can be used as a tealight holder.'

        - About the product

It states that it burns for 30 hours, it is 8cm in height, it is a creamy colour and the candle is contained in a clear glass container that can be used again. The scent of the candle is dipicted on the plastic lid and this one seems to be vanilla as the image on the lid is of vanilla ice cream and waffers.

        - Scent

I noticed this candle scent when I walked past a selection of them int he store, they did smell really good - like warm vanilla. The scent is really nice, I love vanilla scents although it is a very common and overdone scent in my opinion. It is an artificial vanilla scent, it smells quite sweet (which some people may not like that much) but I think it is a great, warm, inviting scent overall.

        - Using the product

I trimmed the wick slightly on the candle, it should be around 0.5cm in length - if it is too long then it can create black smoke and cause the top fo the container the candle is in to turn black. The candle did take a while to start to smell and the wax did take a long time to melt which is kind of a good things as it means the candle will last longer but it also means that the wax didn't melt evening, it only melted in one area - so about 30% of the wax was wasted because it didn't melt. The scent took a while to be noticeable, about an hour or so and I could smell it to an extent but it was really quite subtle. Then after around two or three hours the scent was noticeable but still subtle which is quite disappointing as the scent is really nice. Also the scent didn't travel/disapate that far so overall a bit disappointing and I wouldn't be buying the large glass container candles again from Ikea (although the same problem with some of the wax being wasted is something I have experienced with other jar/larger candles).

        - Price and availability

I bought this from an Ikea store as there is one that it fairly close to me - I looked at delivery at it is around £9 for the one fairly small item I had so I wouldn't buy online for that reason. The candle itself was only 95p, you can buy larger version for around £3. There are also tea lights available which are priced at £1.50.

        - Conclusions

        Positives

*Very cheap and you can re-use the glass container afterwards
        *Gorgeous warm, sweet vanilla scent
*Burns for a fairly long time

        Negatives

        *Scent is very subtle!
        *Candle doesn't burn/melt evenly
        *Scent doesn't travel/disperse very far

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A reasonably priced candle from Ikea that smells gorgeous

When my husband and I were still dating, and before we moved in together, he used to live very close to an Ikea store, and so every now and then we would go for a look around. After smelling the gorgeous smells coming from their Tindra scented candles, and going to have a closer look, my then boyfriend told me he would buy one for me. I chose the vanilla one because I love the smell of vanilla, and this candle didn't disappoint.

My candle was purchased around 4 years ago now, and so I can't remember what I paid for it. These candles are now on sale at Ikea for £3.25, or you can buy a smaller version for 95p. You can currently only purchase these candles from Ikea stores, as they aren't available to purchase online.

My candle is 10cm high and has a burning time of 45 hours. I'm afraid I can't comment on how accurate the burning time Ikea provide is, as I have only lit my candle on a couple of occasions and not for very long; I'm terrible for buying candles and not wanting to light them! The smaller version of this candle is 8cm high and Ikea say it has a burning time of 30 hours.

The two things that really drew me to this candle are it's lovely scent, and it's simplistic holder. The scent is sweet vanilla, but I wouldn't say that it's too sickly, and I think it has quite a strong scent when you smell it. I think you could smell the scent of the candle in my room when I first got it, but now that I've had it for a while, it's only when I go to sniff it that I can smell the scent, and so either the scent has quietened down over time or I've got used to the smell of it. I really like the fact that the candle comes in a clear, colourless glass holder because it looks simplistic and it's nice to see the creamy colour of the candle. It reminds me of a big tealight holder, and the Ikea website does say that you can use it as a tealight holder when you've finished with the candle, or in my case, IF you ever finish with the candle.

The only negative thing I have to say about this candle, and the reason why I'm dropping a star for it, is that when I purchased it, it had a big wrapper arond it. The wrapper I think had the product's name and details on it, and it covered most of the glass. I didn't mind this product having a label, but the trouble was that I didn't want to keep it stuck to my candle, as it didn't looked very nice with it on, but it was very well stuck to the glass and so I struggled to peel it off. When I did manage to get most of the label off, there was still some of it stuck to the glass that didn't want to come off, and it was a bit of a pain trying to remove it. It would be better if it had a label on the bottom of the candle instead, so then it wouldn't matter if the label was left on or didn't all come off.

In conclusion, about from the label that is hard to remove, I think this candle was good value for money, as it still has a lovely vanilla scent and it's simplistic glass holder means I can move it to any room in my house and it will look like it belongs there.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Lovely signature candle with a classic look and scent

I picked up 2 large scented Tindra candles in Vanilla and two in Rose on a recent trip to IKEA.

            Look:

I chose the Tindra candles specifically as I love the simple glass pot that allows the colour of the candle to show. The pale cream of vanilla and light pink of the rose go brilliantly on my windowsill and add some colour to my room which is filled with white ikea furniture! Unlike some other similar candles, these look just as nice when they've been used a little.

Unfortunately, the bright colour of the rose candles has been faded over time by sunshine so the colour is no longer as bright.

            Scent:

The scent of the both the vanilla and rose candles is beautiful. The vanilla is strong enough to add a lovely warm scent that can be detected as soon as you walk into the room but isn't sickly sweet like some other vanilla candles. The rose has a beautiful floral fragrance which like the vanilla is pleasant and noticeable without being overpowering.

            Value for money:

I will continue to buy IKEA tindra candles as I find them long lasting. I do however only use candles on occasion so these are mostly decorative for me.

The scent smells more expensive than a typical candle at this price. My only criticisms would be that the colour of the candles themselves fades quickly and the glass is easy to break. Mine are forever falling off the windowsill when I move my curtains so this is probably my fault!

At £3.25 for a large candle these are great value and come in a wonderful colour selection. They make a great decorative object for a bit of accent colour in a room. These are often on sale at half price. You can also try the smaller version at £0.95 to see if you like it.

In summary, great signature candle with a lovely look and scent!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Lovely scented candles which come in a range of colours and scents to match any taste.

Recently my scented candle from Ikea ran out, so I decided to have a look at the scented candle range again when I visited recently. The candle had lasted me ages, I didn't burn it all the time, but often lit it if I had people coming round to make the house smell really nice when they arrived!

When I got to Ikea, I found they still sold the same candles which come in a range of colours and sizes. In the smaller size I remember seeing:
              White (I think it's vanilla)
              Green (apple)
              Pink (rose)
              Orange (tropical fruits)
              Deep red (berries)

In the larger size they had a brown one which smelt really Christmassy! They also had 3 packs of mini ones which I remember seeing in purple, blue and green.

The candles come in a glass jar so you can see the colour of the candle as it burns and it's useful as you don't have to find something to stand the candle on to catch the wax as it melts. After my old candle ran out I now use the glass as a candle light holder. I bought some Tindra scented candle lights to use which are red and smell like Christmas and have pictures of apple pies on the packaging. The smell as they burn is nice as it's not too overpowering so is more of a background scent which I really like.

At just 95p for the small size I thought they were a real bargain so bought a couple! Currently I've only used the white one, but the smell is really lovely and scents the whole room. The larger size were around £3 as were the packs of 3.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Not my own personal favourites but are excellent value for money

I love scented candles and regularly buy Yankee candles which are my favourite but these can be expensive especially when you are like me and enjoy burning a scented candle on a daily basis. The Ikea Tindra scented candles are much more reasonable but unfortunately they are nowhere near as good either. They are fine for burning and scenting my house but they wouldn't be the candles I would pick if I could afford to buy loads of Yankee candles every day.

I bought a pack of the Tindra scented tea lights and also a few of the larger candles in glass holders last time I was at Ikea for £1.75 each for a pack of 36 tea lights and 95p each for the candles in the glass holders.

For the money the candles are fine as long as you aren't expecting the luxury smells that you get with the more expensive candles. These are more of the plain variety with scents such as berries and vanilla. For quite common scents though they are actually a lot nicer than similar scented candles that you can buy in the supermarket.

The smell is quite strong which is a good thing if you like the smell and it has no problems with filling a large room with its scent. It does a good job of hiding dog smells and when my friends who smoke visit it helps to both mask and neutralise the smell of the smoke.

The candles in the glass jars have a burn time of around about 30 hours which is a really good time for candles that cost less than a pound. I have never actually sat and counted how long these burn for but it seems to be quite accurate as I have often burnt these for hours at a time and they have lasted days.

The candles come in all different colours so you can also just buy them to match your décor instead of just picking one for the smell and again for less than a pound these make nice cheap decorations on the mantle piece in the living room with the added benefit of them being cheap enough to replace that you don't mind actually burning them.

For me personally I prefer the fresh scents and most of these candles are fruity or spice scented which isn't my personal favourite kind of smell which is why I am not overly keen on them. I think if you actually like these types of smells then you will be much more impressed with them but even if the scents are your ideal ones you really cannot complain at the prices which make them excellent value.

                Disadvantages

                Ikea tindra candles

I love browsing around the Ikea accessories section in their superstores as they always have amazing little things that are good quality at a great price. They have great frames and vases and things like that but one of my favourite sections is the candle section. I love decorating my home with candles and do really like Yankee Candles but they are quite expensive so when you can find great looking candles in Ikea for a tenth of the price then I am very excited.

These tindra candles are perfect and great for dotting around the house. They come in a number of different sizes but my favourite are the little candles in a glass. The glass is fairly small, about the height of a shot glass but it's much wider at the top. Ikea list the height as 8cm. The glass is good quality and fairly thick and it looks like good quality glass and in my opinion makes the candle look very expensive. So, imagine my surprise when I first found out the price of these candles. They are only £0.95 per candle and I think that's amazing quality considering you are getting a nice candle and a nice glass you can use after the candle has burnt out. A candle like this in Yankee Candle would probably be more than triple the price so that's good quality in itself.

The candles have different colours and smells. I have been buying them for a number of years now and my favourite are the red coloured ones which smell like Forest Fruits, a lovely strong, rich fruity smell with a vivid red colour.

The candles will burn for 30 hours which I think again is a long time for such a cheap price so if it's candles you love a visit to Ikea is what I suggest.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                i'll be buying more

I really like Ikea stores I find they are really good value and have a fantastic range of products and then of course the hot dog at the end of the store finishes the outing perfectly! Our nearest Ikea is 45 minutes away so I don't get there very often and it is especially dangerous on the purse strings when I do since it's next to a major shopping centre.

On a visit last year I was starting to think about what we would do if we got a bad winter again so had planned on buying some candles, I only wanted cheap candles as it was really just in case and I wanted top be able to have a few in each room if it became necessary.

I choose these candles as I liked the fact they came in little glasses so that they would be better for carrying around if needed and they come in a wide range of colours and of course the price is great. I think I paid 90p each but this was about this time last year so this may have risen a little, considering they are in a glass and scented they are great value.

The candles didn't come with much packaging at all, in the store they were simply sat in a cardboard tray with lots of holes cut out for the candles to sit in but of course they don't need to tell you much really. The candles simply had a plastic wrapper around then with a small sticker on each one.

I bought these candles in red as I thought they were the nicest smells being very fruity and clearly a mix of berries. The candles are supposed to burn for 30 hours according to the little sticker on the plastic and I would say for all I didn't time how long the candles lasted this would probably be about right, we still have some of them for this year too since the weather wasn't too bad last year and we didn't have any power cuts.

The candles were very easy to light, they have a white wick and it is plenty long enough to cat the flame and it also doesn't whittole away to nothing after a while burning which I have found with some cheap candles and found I have had to throw some candles out because of the problem.

I would recommend these candles, they smell lovely, are a great price and comes in a wide variety of colours so can match in with just about any colour scheme, will certainly be buying some more next time I visit the store.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                A fantastic candle from Ikea.

Ikea is a store that I absolutely love to visit but unfortunately don't get to as much as I would like due to it being about 40 minutes drive away and petrol being so expensive now! When I do visit I like to stock up on glasses, candles and other little nick nacks like pretty vases and dried flowers. Ikea is great for this and because of the distance I don't find all my friends having the same things in their homes!

In my hall I have recently done a very colourful scheme of orange and yellow on the walls. I have also bought a new radiator cover and sprayed it yellow to make the theme as well as putting a nice wall decal on the wall with a quotation that I absolutely love. In all I have been very pleased with this and felt that the room had been pulled together very well by my own fair hands! I thought I was finished until I visited Ikea with a friend and saw the Tindra candles and picked up some of the orange coloured ones. These were just 95p each and they come in glass containers which can be reused or recycled after use.

There was not too much information on the candles when I was looking at them besides a very small picture and a plastic cover with some small holes that allow me to smell the candles before I purchase them. This is always good as I prefer to go on the smell rather than what any labels say as these can sometimes be incorrect or a little out on describing the scent. The scent of this Tindra candle is a really exotic one; pineapples, mangos, passionfruit and lots of other exotic fruits are combined together to make up the scent of this candle.

This candle is 8cm high and has a burn time of 30 hours. I have burnt my candles for around 25 hours now and would say that this is a correct figure for the burn time with me having a small amount of candle left to burn now.

The wick of this candle was a generous size and so I only had to trim a very small amount to ensure that this was nice and safe to use. This lights in just seconds and I have not had any problems with the wick becoming too short and burning out before the candle is finished. In the past I have had problems with wicks that were too short and left me with 1/4 of a candle that I could not use but these Tindra candles have been fantastic anyway so that's good.

I find that the scent of these candles are fantastic. The exotic fruit scents are quite strong without being overpowering. The candles make my home smell sweet and fresh when people arrive via my hall and I like feeling confident about these candles and the smell of my home. I am able to blow them out with ample time for them to solidify and cool before any small children arrive and yet the smell is still lovely and lingers for quite some time.

I haven't had any problems with these candles burning my radiator cover but then I do use some pretty little place mats anyway just to be on the safe side.

Overall I love these candles. The price is reasonable, the glass is strong and sturdy, the candles look and smell lovely and they make my colour scheme just rounded off in my hallway. I would definitely recommend them and I would have no hesitation trying over scents in the future!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

A nice candle and good value

                  *My Intro*:

When I first left home, I seemed to live at Ikea, I couldn't believe how cheap some of the products were.

One item that I purchased 11 years ago and I am still purchasing now is the Tindra glass tumbler candles.

                  *How to use*:

Just remove the plastic lid (which is normally attached by two little pieces of tape) and light the wick.

                  *Packaging:*

The candle comes in a glass jar which measure about 8cm in height. It has and Ikea label which covers about half of the glass (it has a picture on of the different smell you have purchased) which I prefer to remove also and this does come off quite easily.

                  *Price and availability*:

Available for all Ikeas and some of the product can be brought online. The cost of the glass tumblers is 89p which I think is an absolute bargain.

                  *The range*:

As well as the glass candles, Ikea also sell block candles and tea lights, they also sell them in singles or packs of three.

They are available in several different fragrances; mixed fruit, apple, vanilla, rose, mixed berries and apple & cinnamon.

                  *My opinion*:

The fragrance is quite subtle and I found that to find out which fragrance you are buying (if you didn't look at the packaging), you would have to put the product to your nose however once the candle has been lit for about 5 minutes, you can smell the fragrance in the room.

For less than a pound, I think there are a real bargain, although the aroma may not be as strong as branded candles, you can still certainly smell them when lit, its just a little more subtle.

The only downside of the product is that I find it doesn't seem to burn/melt evenly. Ikea say that you can use the glass as a tea light holder once the candle has all gone however I found that once the wick has been used up, there is still probably half the product left up the sides of the glass.

The burn time is advertised as up to 30hours, I have found that they seem to last a little under this.

Review may also be on other sites under the same username.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Not bad for the price, don't expect too much though

My husband would say that I'm obsessed with candles, and I guess that he is probably right. I always have candles lit up in the house every evening, and I go through vast quantities of them. I especially like using scented candles and tealights to fragrance the room. I've found that Ikea seems to be the best place to buy tealights and candles, it certainly seems to be the cheapest.

I always buy the scented tealights and block candles from Ikea. However I've not been too impressed with my experiences of the tindra scented candles in a glass.
They are really cheap, they are just 89 pence each. And they do come in a wide range of fragrances and colours; vanilla ice cream - which is an off white colour , rose - which is pink, apple - which is green, exotic fruits - which is orange, forest fruits - which is red, cinnamon apple - which is dark brown, and only available at Christmas time - gingerbread, which is a very deep burgundy.
The tindra scented candles in a glass burn for 30 hours. When the candle has burnt itself out the glass cup can then be used as a tealight holder.

However I've yet to get the full 30 hours out of any of them. I find that once they are about a third of the way burnt through then the wax always tends to burn down unevenly. I invariably find that the candle around the wick will have burnt down to the bottom, yet there is still loads of unburnt candle wax around the edges. I don't know how far off the 30 hours they are, but there is always a lot of candle wax left.
I also find that the fragrance doesn't seem as strong with these once you have lit them a few times. The fragrance is quite noticeable initially, but does wear off quickly after a few uses. This is quite dissapointing, as you buy scented candle because you want them to be scented!

I do continue to buy these though as they are so cheap, I normally always pick up a couple when I'm in Ikea. I think maybe I'm hoping that they will get better one day! My favourite tindra fragrances are the cinnamon apple and the gingerbread during the winter time, and the exotic fruits and the forest fruits during the summer time. I think that for the price as long as you don't have high hopes for these then they are ok, if they were more expensive though then I would have to say that I was dissapointed with them.

                  Overall nice candle

We do quite a bit of shopping at Ikea and whenever we visit there we inevitably end up buying candles - usually tealights, I have to say, but at other times we also buy an assortment of other types of candles too.

One of the ones we bought recently was the Tindra candle which costs £1 which is very cheap. They do come in a range of different smells but the ones my other half always seems to go for is the berry smelling one. She just stands there in the candle section sniffing like a mad woman at all the different candles before she finally makes up her mind and settles on the ones she wants.

This candle comes in a rather chunky glass jar which is filled about two thirds of the way up with the wax. The candle is easy to light asand I personally feel that ther glass jar it stands in is pretty safe and secure and does not allow the candle to burn anything it may be standing on.

The smell of the candle is rather pleasant (though I have smelled better). It lasts a long time and does not spatter which is always a good thing. We only ever light candles once the little lad has gone off to bed. The smell is nice and fresh and really rather relaxing in an odd sort of way. It's nice to sit downstairs with all the lights off at night and have a glass of vino, watch a movie and light a candle.

I have also taken this candle into the bath with me and placed it along the side with my pint whilst I lay back and relax and read a good magazine.

Overall a good candle, nice smell and not too expensive eitrher.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

A nice candle but there are better available in my opinion.

I have recently overhauled the bedrooms my granddaughters sleep in when staying with me, they did not need lots of work so I refurbished them somewhat rather than buying brand new of everything. While I was away visiting friends my son-in-law glossed the woodwork to spruce the room up, my asthma means I cannot tolerate the fumes and stench of paint so he timed it that that majority of toxins would have disappeared by the time of my return.

The gloss he used this time, however, lingered terribly and although the fumes were no longer present just the smell was beginning to settle oh my chest and making me wheeze. I opened the windows and burned what I now know to be a Tindra candle from Ikea, it was a gift last Christmas which had remained unlit - with three boisterous adult cats candles are not a good idea! I made an exception, however, lighting the candle in the largest bedroom and banishing all felines to the living room where they settled safely under the fire.

The candle doesn't have as intense a fragrance as I thought it would judging by the colour of the wax, the fiery red is slightly deceiving as it gives the impression of a strong scent. It worked to freshen up the bedroom, there is a fresh aroma through the room which rid me of the smell of gloss paint but I would personally have expected a stronger aroma overall.

The scent is not an easy one to describe; it is a mixture of a dusty floral fragrance and a slightly spicy one. The spice, unlike the colour, does not work to make this a specifically festive candle although it is pleasant enough in its own right. The bedroom I initially used the candle in is an average size and I felt the fragrance struggled somewhat to reach all corners of the room, admittedly it was working hard to neutralise the paint smell but I would have thought such a large candle would have no trouble with scenting the entire room - and beyond, truth be known!

This candle burned fairly evenly initially, after around eight hours into its burning time I noticed the wax appeared to be melting much quicker at one edge however and this has unfortunately become far more pronounced as time has worn on. For this reason I doubt very much that I will obtain the full thirty hours burn time as suggested in the packaging, in part due to the fact that I suspect the wick will become rather too unstable for safe use soon. I tend to burn my candle in short bursts as I really do not have a lot of trust in naked flames around my home, the thick glass vase this candle is provided in seems safe but one can never be too cautious with items such as this.

Overall I am glad to have owned this pretty candle, not least because it removed the smell of gloss paint from the bedrooms. I rotated the candle through all bedrooms in my home and noticed it was slightly more effective in the very smallest room, which is probably to have been expected. I shall not use it any longer as the very uneven melting of the wax not only makes it look rather unsightly, but also I believe this is when a candle starts to become dangerous.

If you visit Ikea there appear to be several fragrances and formats of the Tindra candle available, including tea lights and pillar candles. I prefer the look of this one as I believe the glass container enhances the flame and makes for an extremely warming reflection, prices seem reasonable for all candles in the range and I would definitely recommend you have a look next time you are in store - unfortunately the candles are unavailable for online purchase so one assumes that is because stock options will vary dependant on the store and season.

                    A bargain buy!

This week, so far has been really eventful! I've been looking to move to a new flat ever since my flat share came to an end and I got left with a 2 bedroomed flat I can't afford to keep on so have had loads of money worries as well as my landlord trying to evict me for reasons I don't even know about! Anyway I have hunted high and low for a flat in my price range that didn't want too much money up front, didn't need guarantees (as I don't know anyone who could do it for me basically) and accepted pets in the form of hamsters. Then late last week I went to see a guy I know who deals with lettings when he mentioned the flat than on Monday I saw and feel in love with. Right bang in Weston Super Mare city centre and close to everything, huge flat and it is in my price range and even has 2 bedrooms! I couldn't ask for anything more than this flat offers me and today the letting agent confirmed the transfer of all the rent and bond he wanted upfront (thanks to my wonderful Step Father and Mummy!) and I'm set to get the keys on Thursday of this week. Talk about excited I can't wait to make my mark on the place and this will be my first ever home I really set up all by myself (apart from help getting it of course lol).

To celebrate I decided to treat myself to a few colourful candles as I know that the flat has a lovely large windowsill, and these candles I have had experience with before but I'd only used the vanilla fragrance one so today I bought 4 of the exotic fragrance ones as I thought the colour of the wax was really pretty and tropical looking and as I sniffed it instore I just thought it smelt really fresh and clean really. Tonight I lit one, but like I said I have had a candle from this exact range before and felt then that it was a good value for money product and thats why I reinvested in some!

                    The Packaging:

The candle itself has no weight stated on it but comes in a see-through glass like a small tumbler that is reusable of course and with a plastic tear off cover to the top of it which has a couple of holes in it so you can sniff the candle before you buy it. Around the front off the candle and on the side of the glass there is a grey label. On that no fragrance is stated but on my candle there is small photograph with passion fruit, mango's and Sharon fruit on the front of it (along with a few other pieces of exotic looking fruits) and we are told that it is Tindra. There is barely any other written information on that label apart from contact details for Ikea being given and then there is loads of symbols and the likes shown and amongst that lot we are told that it has a 30h burning time, that it is 8cm in height, to cut the wick to 1cm before burning and there are dos and dont's in the forms of diagrams on there as well offering safety advice. The only issue I have had with these candles is that the label doesn't simply come off the glass easily and nicely so your best to leave it on and display the candle with the label facing away from you in my humble opinion!

                    The Candle Itself:

Well the candle I have burning now is an orange coloured one and fills 3/4 of the glass with a cream coloured wick going right through the centre to the base of the candle and had a small enough amount of wick so I didn't have to cut it but I did have to cut down some wick off my vanilla as it did have a longer wick that I had to trim before lighting it. It lights easily and burns the same, releasing a lovely aroma as it goes. The scent of my exotic fruit one is really nice. It smells of fresh and sweet and tangy fruits but not in an overwhelming way but is noticeable when you walk into a room and the candle is burning. After it has been burning a while and you make sure it is off the scent of this one still lingers for a good hour or so and the nice thing is that because the wick is placed in the centre of the candle you don't get any scorch marks on the glass in the way of black smudges etc.

This one I have had burning so far (on and off) for 8 hours has burnt almost one third of the wax away which is about right (well almost lol) for a candle meant to last about 30 hours. I know though that this candle does give about 30 hours burning time because like I mentioned earlier I had the vanilla scented one before this (which smelt lovely too) and it lasted me ages!

The glass of this protects where you place and light the candle so my furniture doesn't get burnt and I find that this candle burns easily. Add to that as well there are a few different coloured and scented candles all at about £1.29 each and I rate them rather highly apart from the small fault I believe they have that the label doesn't peel off.

Nice looking candles, easy to use and the two I have had have smelt lovely...and they're a bargain price too!

                    Only available from Ikea stores.

                      Disadvantages

A great value candle which will spice and enhance any room

I have bought many of these candles over the years and I have had the majority of them, but my favourite has to be the lavender candle. These smell really strong and very much like lavender and has the colour to match. They come in small jars which are good because once the candle has burnt out they quickly burn out on their own so reducing any fire risks. The jars do seem to have gotten smaller over the past 2 years so maybe you're not getting as much candle for your money. The jars also strangely can be used for other purposes as they wash out easy once they've been used.

Although price wise they are still very reasonable as they are priced at around £1.50. Which puts them on a par with other retailers but IKEA do seem to have an edge on them as they offer more variety of scents. They offer fragrances from vanilla and lavender to a winter fruit smell to one that smells like the sea.

The have a burning time of around 30 hours so they will burn for numerous occasions making them even better value for money. Once burning they do have a slight scent but not as much as when they are UN lit but this does seem to be the case with most candles. The wick of these candles are about average in size so this is good as when they have been re lit they become harder to light again.
