Ikea Tindra Tealights
Advantages: Burn well
Disadvantages: DOn't give off scent as claimed
Our nearest Ikea is not exactly close at hand, so we tend to make an annual trip, where we seem to spend a small fortune. One thing that I always like to stock up on are candles, as I like Ikea's range and prices! On my last trip to Ikea, I picked up a pack of these Tindra tealights, which currently cost £1.75 for a pack of 36. Now there are better value packs of tealights out there, but I liked the fact that these were scented, plus they also came a variety of fragrances.
Of the various fragrances on offer, including apple and berry, I chose the natural vanilla pack, as I thought they would look the best in some of my tealight holders, as my living room decor is also natural. I love vanilla, and was hoping for a lovely scent to fill the room when I would light a handful of these tealights, especially since most tealights that you buy in large packs are unscented.
Of the 36 tealights in the pack, there are three various shades of tealight, all a variance on the natural colour. Like other tealights, this Ikea range of candles come in little metal holders to protect you and your tealight holder from wax.
When I first put these tealights into my tealight holder in our front room which holds 6 tealights, as I said I was expected to get the lovely aroma of vanilla, but unfortunately I can't say I got that. Yes, these tealights are easily lit and they do burn well leaving nothing but the wick at the end (in fact, they are meant to have a burning time of 3 and a half hours, which I would say is realistic) but there really is little to no scent went they are burning. Despite the scent being very obvious when you open the pack, it just doesn't seem to linger when actually burning, which is very disappointing, and therefore you may as well simply purchase a big bulk bag of unscented tealights.
All in all, these tealights do burn well and do last the length of time suggested by Ikea however, if you are purchasing these tealights simply for the scent, which in my case I was, then you will be disappointed, and you may as well go for the better value option of buying a big pack of unscented tealights that will burn just as well without claiming to give any scent. On a final note I cannot comment on the scent of some of the other fragrances within the Tindra range, but I cannot really recommend these tealights in the vanilla scent.
Summary: A good burning tealight but don't buy for the expected scent!
