Ikea Tindra Tealights
Advantages: Not too expensive, good range of colours, decent burning time
Disadvantages: Scent isn't very noticeable
We used these tealights as table decorations at our wedding reception earlier this year, and have since been trying to use up the ones we had leftover! Our colour scheme was pink and silver, and as we bought the candle holders from Ikea, it made sense to get the tealights at the same time. We spotted these tealights and I decided they would be ideal, as they contained a few different shades of pink which I thought would bring a bit of interest to the tables. These are a standard size for a tealight, looking about the same size as a fifty pence piece (38mm diameter to be precise), so this makes them suitable for any standard sized tealight holders.
The tealights are available in several different colours schemes, including pink, green, beige/cream, orange, red, and brown. Each set contains three variations on the colour scheme, so the set we had which was pink contained very light pink, mid-pink, and a hot pink which was almost cerise in colour. There are 36 tealights in a pack, and this is made up of 12 of each colour. Although this was useful for us because I wanted a bit of variety in the different shades of pink, I imagine it would be a bit annoying if you were after just one particular colour. These tealights currently cost £1.75 for a pack of 36.
The tealights are scented, and although I could smell the fragrance in the packet, I have to admit this got lost in the restaurant despite having a lot of these candles scattered around. At home, I do notice the fragrance but only slightly, it isn't overwhelming or particularly noticeable, more of a background scent. You can only smell it properly if you stick your nose next to it, which obviously isn't recommended what with burning candles getting rather hot! The fragrance is allegedly of rose, hence the pink colour, and the others in the range have scents which relate to their colour also.
Ikea state that the burning time of these candles is around 3.5 hours which is probably about right as I noticed they were still going towards the end of our wedding meal which must have lasted a good few hours. I'm not sure how this compares to other brands of candle as I don't really use tealights very often. They are easy to light and I have never had any issues getting the wick to light, although hubby is usually in charge of extinguishing candles as I'm quite forgetful so he doesn't trust me not to forget one and end up burning the house down.....
Interestingly, if you are purchasing these as decorations for a special occasion, it is worth noting that there are matching and co-ordinating items available. We bought the Ikea neglinge tealight holders to display these tealights, and that worked perfectly for the effect we were trying to achieve. I notice they also recommend on their website that they have matching napkins available, which could be useful if you are trying to co-ordinate all your table decorations for a party or special event.

Summary: Good value, but don't expect any fragrance from these!
