Advantages: does the work for you, smells nice
Disadvantages: harsh on the environment
Ok! Hands up how many of like cleaning your drains? Only those many? Obviously not many of you have tried my way, let me explain. Go out to the shops and search for a product called ?Jeyes drain cleaner and freshener?. Now this stuff is not easy to find. I first bought it in Sainsburys but have not seen it there since. I have now found a little hardware shop that gets it from his local cash and carry for me. I?m afraid you will have to shop around. Jeyes drain cleaner and freshener comes in a blue plastic bottle. With a blue and yellow label on the back and one on the front, with the words ?Jeyes Drain Cleaner and Freshener? written on it. On the back label it has the instructions. Once you have found the product you will also need to buy a magazine. Now simply go home, fill the kettle to max and switch on. When boiled make a nice cuppa, place the cuppa and the magazine near your favourite chair. Now take the bottle of Jeyes Drain Cleaner and Freshener to your smelly drain and pour some in, making sure you get some all over the surface of the grill. Now go to your favourite chair, read your magazine and drink your cuppa for approximately 30 minutes. You don?t have to read a magazine, you can do almost any thing you can fit into 30 minutes. Yes! You could even do that if the mood takes you. Once the fun thing is done return to the boiled kettle, which by this time is luke warm and pour it down the sink, then stand back and inspect it. You will notice that all the grease and slime is gone. This stuff is so good that the sink will stay clean and fresh for a good couple of weeks. The cleaner has a really nice smell, it?s quite pleasant, unlike some cleaners that smell almost as horrible as the drain itself. Now for the science bit. It contains amongst other thing apparently, less than 5% anionic surfactant and non-ionic surfactant and is corrosive. It also contains Sodium Hydroxide and warns you to keep it locked up
and away from children. It has a childproof top. It has an easy to pour shape, with the top part sloping to make it easier to use without getting on yourself. Like I have mentioned before, it is not easy to find. You might need to look around, if you cant find it, it might be worth doing like I did and asking a smaller store if they can get it from their cash and carry. It might be a little more expensive. I pay £2.99 for a 1-litre bottle but it?s really worth it. You might be lucky and find it in one of the bigger stores, as I have said; I have seen it in Sainsburys before. I find that the 1 litre bottle lasts me about six to eight weeks. I pour a little down every week to keep it fresh and they suggest you do this on the bottle. I?m not sure what impact it might have on the environment. It says nothing on the label, so I can only deduce that it?s not good. It does say on the label it ?Makes light work of your garden? so I wouldn?t think it kills every thing around it and Jeyes is a reputable name. This is the very best drain-cleaning product I have ever used and I myself am very impressed with it. I would recommend it to any one. Maybe if more people ask for it, it might be easier to get. I hope you find this useful. Thanks for reading.
