JML Toasta Bags
Advantages: Easy to use, cheap, re-usable
JML products are one of the ranges sold in Woolworths. JML is a London based company which is family run and the head of JML is a man called John Mills whom the initials JM from the JML stand for. With over 40 years experience, JML pride themselves on being able to offer household items at inexpensive prices. You may recall those terrible adverts which advertise their products to make it sound like life would not be worth living without purchasing something from their range and they do everything from invisible bra's, cable tidies and ironing board covers to food slicers, mops and sewing machines. So as it was all on sale I thought I would go and have a look at what was on offer.
The one thing which caught my eye whilst being in Woolworths was an advert for Toaster bags. Now I love toasties, if anything is my comfort food then it is toasties and I have had various toastie making machines in my time and the one thing I hate is having to clean them after I have used them. So the idea of using a specially designed bag to make my toasties to keep crumbs and cheese at bay appealed almost immediately but that isn't all you can do with these bags. No you can put your sausage rolls, Cornish pasties or any sort of pasty that you buy, fish fingers for a fish finger sandwich and even half a pizza (assuming it fits into the bag as shown in the advert) into these bags and pop them into your toaster.
As I said anything JML advertise is marketed very cleverly to make you need and want it and after watching the in store advert I am wanting these toaster bags. They are sold in packets of two for £3.99 which does sound expensive initially, however they are washable and dishwasher safe which means they are even easier to use than I originally thought and they can be use safely for up to 100 times each before you need to purchase anymore. So without a seconds thought I have put two packets in my basket because they are on offer of buy one get one free.
Getting home the first thing I am wanting to do is make a toastie. My favourite filling is Cheese, Onion and tomato which whenever I make them using my toastie making machine is very messy and a nightmare to get into the machine without making an even bigger mess than I have just done grating the cheese and chopping the tomatoes and onion. Anyway, I mange to make the sandwich and then removing the toastie bag from the box, I was surprised to note that it looks like a mini carrier bag with little handles in the top. Anyway, all you have to do is cut your sandwich in half or triangles, whichever you prefer and then slide it into the bag, which because the bag is slightly wider than your sandwich is really easy to do. Once the sandwich is in the bag, you place it into your toaster, on a setting you are comfortable with, I always go for level 5 on my toaster because I like my toastie to be toasted and crunchy without being burnt. Once the toaster has popped, you need to use the handles on the top of this bag to remove it from the toaster safely without burning your hands and then putting your newly cooked toastie onto your plate you should have before you a properly cooked toastie.
I am really impressed with these toaster bags, I have to admit I was dubious at first because they sounded too good to be true but after owning them for a few months and using them a fair few times with different fillings in them such as tuna and cheese, cheese and beans which was messy but it worked, bacon and fish fingers, I have to accept that they do everything JML have said they will do and they do it well. When it comes to washing the bags, as I said earlier they are dishwasher safe and you can wash them by hand, whichever is your preference and they wash exceptionally well and they dry really quickly. Storing is a bit of an issue though because you need to try not to damage them in any way, so I use a Tupperware box to store mine in, this keeps them totally dry and protects them.
So for me they are a perfect product, they do exactly what I want them to do and exactly what they promised to and for the bargain price of £3.99 they are brilliant.
Summary: Pop it in the toaster toastie bag
