Advantages: Shrinks clothes down
I am trying to clear space in the flat ready for our new arrival and decided to bag up the clothes I can no longer fit into to make space for my maternity wardrobe. Having seen the adverts, I decided to invest in 2 large Vacpack bags from JML. These bags are 'airtight and waterproof so your items stay safe, dry and protected'. They 'lock out dirt, dust, bugs and moisture'. As the bags are transparent it is easy to see what is stored in them too.
The idea of the bags is pretty simple. You pack your clothes, duvets, towels or whatever it is you would like to store into one of the large bags. I was a bit worried about overloading the bag, but I kept cramming stuff in until it was totally full. You then seal the bag ensuring that it is airtight by pressing the fastenings together. The bags come complete with a white plastic slider to help seal the bags. One side of the seal is yellow and one is red - when the bag has been securely fastened, the combined seals show a solid orange colour so you can clearly see that it has been fastened correctly with no air holes.
Once the bag is sealed, grab your vacuum cleaner. On top of the bag is a round valve with 'open' and 'close' clearly marked. Ensure the valve is on 'open' and using your hose attachment, suck the air from the bag. I found this quite enjoyable to do - it goes down really quickly and really does shrink everything. Once all the air has been removed, turn the valve to 'close'. Job done! Now find somewhere to store the smaller package.
So far, I cannot fault the JML Vacpack bags! JML claim that they triple your storage space - I couldn't swear to that, but I would say it definitely shrunk my pile of clothes by half. I was a bit worried that the bags would slowly start to inflate - so far one month on they are as secure as they were when I first put them away. I did find the sliders quite hard to use - they fall off easily - but are easy to reattach and you do not have to use them - it is just as easy to seal the bag using your hands.
The JML Vacpack bags come in large (55 x 85cm), jumbo (90 x 125cm) and travel (includes 2 large - 50 x 70cm & 1 small - 42 x 50cm). The 2 large bags cost £10.59 including postage.
I would definitely recommend the JML Vacpack bags, and may invest in some more to store hubbys summer clothes now, as he won't be needing them for a while! Five stars from me!
Thanks for reading.
6 months on and they are still doing well. I have had a rummage through one and resealed and the other I havent opened but did give it a quick vacuum and it went down marginally.
Summary: A great way of creating extra space - vac pack your Summer clothes now!
