Though a great idea at the time I soon came to realise that a wooden toy box with a lid wasn't exactly ideal for a crawling and toddling 17 month old who wanted quick and easy access to his toys. My son's frustration at not being able to reach the bottom of his toy box not to mention a lid that was hard for him to move quickly led me to look for an alternative for keeping his toys tidy whilst also letting him grab what he wanted when he wanted to do it. JVL's storage bag caught my eye when I spotted it on amazon, for £6.99 it was a great price, the perfect colour and theme which would match my son's bedroom and something that would give him quick and easy access to his toys.
It's a canvas material storage bag with handles. The sides collapse and fold down with very little effort and measuring in at 55cm long, 29cm deep and 34cm in height makes it a decent size for a second storage solution being able to cope with a good deal of stuff. My son's sits on the floor next to his oversized and cumbersome toy box and his most played with toys are stored in it for tantrum-free access. It's a well made storage bag, the handles make it easy to transport around and the stitching is tight and finished off well. I chose the 'cars' option for my son though other themes and colours are available and it provides me with something that I can tidy my son's toys into on a night time when he goes to bed. It's light enough for my son to move if he wants to and easy enough to carry should anyone want to use it as a portable storage bag for taking out to a friends or relatives home with a few choice toys should the need arise. It's not too big that it takes up a lot of space and I like that it enables me to keep my son's toys tidy whilst at the same time allowing him to be able to get to the toys that he wants to play with.
For the price I paid for my son's I think it offers great value for money and would be a good alternative to a traditional toy box for at a grandparents house for example. It's not really big enough to be considered a main storage solution though and it doesn't take too many toys and teddies to fill it but I do think it's versatile and useful enough to take place in any child's bedroom. The handles are of decent length that they shouldn't cause a health risk and though I'm cautious of my son playing with the bag itself I do think that it would be very difficult for him to hurt himself with it as the material is quite soft with no sharp corners or edges.
Overall for a penny under £7.00 I think it's cheap and cheerful and offered me a suitable solution to the problem I had. The bag is well made, nicely decorated and versatile and from me gets a five star rating here. It's been well used for a good couple of months now, has been taken out and about and still looks exactly as it did when I bought it therefore as far as durability goes I have no complaints whatsoever. Available online from amazon and other stockists the JVL folding toy storage bag comes recommended by me, thanks for reading my review.
