Cheap and basic but really useful
I bought the kitchen craft plastic baster at Christmas because I needed one to baste my turkey with. I got it in online and it cost me £2.50. I have loads of kitchen craft things and really like them o I knew the baster would be the same.
It is a really basic item but it is also really good.
The baster is only a plastic tube with a rubber pump on it and it works by dipping the tube in to the meat juices and then squeezing the rubber pump in then out which sucks up the juices in to the tube. You then just squeeze the pump again to release the juices on to the meat.
I thought that when I bought the baster I would only be using it for my turkey but I have used it loads since then and it is surprising how useful it actually is and how often I end up using it when cooking.
It is basic but it is good quality like all kitchen craft products and it is really sturdy. The only thing I don't like about it is how hard it is to clean.
The juices from the meat make the inside of the tube really greasy and just putting it in the dishwasher isn't enough and I have to squeeze hot soapy water in and out of the tube loads of times before the grease washes away.
There isn't anything else to say about this. It is just a basic baster but it is a good quality one and I would recommend it as it is an item all kitchens will need at some point or another.
