You may know from some of my previous reviews that I am a great fan of Lakeland the home catalogue.
The company was founded in the 1960s and was originally called Lakeland Plastics because they sold plastic bags and sheeting to farmers in the Lake District. They even sold something called Lammacs which protected new born lambs from the wind and the rain. I fell in love with this picture in my mind of new born lambs being comforted by these on remote hillsides, and see this as the very origins of Lakeland who have since expanded to have a family run home ware and kitchen equipment business on a world wide scale.
There is always something new at Lakeland and a few years ago my eye was drawn to a product called Lavender Wool Mix. The laundry liquid for delicates and woollens which was first recommended to Lakeland by Vera Patterson of Newtown Abbey. The fact that this product was recommended is characteristic of Lakeland that they listen to customers who have seen new things and will consider stocking them if they are sure of a market.
Lavender Wool Mix is made in Australia. It comes in a pretty lilac bottle with a decorative lavender sprig on the front and inside the liquid is fragrant and has the aroma of a French lavender meadow in Provence. It is wonderful because you can use it in the machine or for washing by hand. It is amazing as you don't even need to rinse it out! I use it for everything which is delicate and in my machine I have a setting called freshen up with really just rinses through items so this is perfect for that. I also use it in my machine on the wool setting for jumpers and for underwear.
It is ph neutral, kind to sensitive skin, and it is not tested on animals. It is also free from phosphates so it helps to keep waterways free from algae and it is fully degradable. It is made by a company called Pental and you can visit their website at www.pental.com.au
I have tried many laundry liquids for delicate items and this is by far the best. It even beats old favourites like Stergene and Dreft which my mother used to use. Both my daughters stock up their bags with it before returning to university and all their friends comment on the wonderful smell they make when doing their laundry.
It is really good for freshening up towels which have just been used lightly and so need to be rinsed through.
It isn't suitable for main washes in the machine though as you will end up with a kitchen full of suds! I did this once so not advisable.
I save up my bras and delicates and wash them all together in the machine using this product and the kitchen is soon filled with a wonderful scent of lavender.
It is priced at £4.99 for 1.25 litres but this is sufficient for 50 washes. To save on postage if you are ordering from the Lakeland catalogue it is a good idea to wait until you have enough to spend £55 so it is post free and of course it is available in their shops which are sprinkled around the country nationwide.
A beautiful product to keep all your delicate items in lovely fresh smelling and soft condition.
Summary: A beautiful lavender smelling washing liquid for all your delicates and woolens.
