Lakeland Disposible Icing Bags
by Callee
I purchased a pack of these to try with my new Lakeland icing nozzles as my daughters wanted to make some cupcakes with swirly icing.
Being the amateur baker that I am, in the past when I have tried I have used those plastic icing bags and then struggled to clean them and ended up with buttercream all over my hands and ... worktop.
These are so easy to use and best of all disposable so when baking cakes with little ones can be used then thrown away with little additional mess.
They come in a pack from 50 and are 30cm (12"). It does say on the pack that they are for use with or without decorating nozzles but I have not tried them without.
I paid about £6.49 for these in Lakeland, and I really love them as do my daughters, all you need to do is snip the end, push your cake nozzle in, fill with buttercream (which I am still trying to perfect but not yet quite there) and away you go. Once you have finished just dispose and enjoy your cakes.
A great addition to the kitchen, also as with Lakeland products the guarantee states ... Is probably the simplest guarantee in the world, if you are not satisfied at any time, you receive your money back. This is our promise. Read the complete review |

Lakeland Disposible Icing Bags
by europe-chick
I bake and ice cupcakes all the time and so I am always using icing bags. I've previously always used a washable fabric icing bag, however I think that these need replacing fairly often. After a while they start to get a lingering small that you just can't get rid of. So I decided to try disposable icing bags. I put this off for ages due ... to the cost, they are quite expensive for something that you just use once and then throw away.
I've been really pleased with these from Lakeland though, yes they are expensive, they are £6.19 for a packet of 50 bags, so about 12 pence each, but I will definately continue to buy them. They are a fairly big size and so will hold quite a lot of frosting and they are really sturdy and well made, not a single one has ever split. If I had a gripe with them though, I would say it is that they are only available in the one large size, sometimes if I am only using a small amount of frosting then it seems really quite wastefull to use the large icing bag, especially as in this case I tend to cut off half of the icing bag anyway to make it easier to handle and use.
You can use these bags on their own without a nozzle by just snipping the end of the bag off to pipe through, depending how much you snip off then depends how thick your line of frosting or icing will be. You can also use them with a shaped nozzle to create all the different icing effects.
They are suitable for all kinds of frostings; buttercream, cream, icings, melted chocolate, purees, any kind of cake frosting really.
They are easy to use and hold and don't slip out of your hands when gripping them and piping.
Overall for the ease of use and the fact I've not got to wash up a washable sticky icing bag any more I'm more than happy with these. Read the complete review |

Lakeland Loaf Tin Liners
by europe-chick
These little greaseproof paper loaf tin liners from Lakeland are a godsend, I don't know how I ever lived without them. I buy these and use these all the time, I will never to back to greasing a loaf tin.
Lakeland sell these in 2 different shapes and sizes, they do both 1lb and 2lb in a definate rectangular typical loaf tin ... shape, and both 1lb and 2lb in more of a squareish loaf tin shape. They vary in price betewwn £3.99 and £4.49 for packs of 40. I buy the 1lb typical loaf tin shaped liner at £3.99 for 40. I guess that my only negative about these liners is the cost, they wotk out at 10 pence each, it's not an awful lot, but it's not especially cheap either.
I have two different loaf tins and they fit both, I have a really old loaf tin from Lakeland itself, when I bought this tin this was the first time I discovered the liners and have been buying them ever since, I also have a loaf tin that came with Lurpak butter and they fit this tin perfectly as well. I would probably say that they would fit most standard sizes of loaf tins.
They come packaged in a firm plastic container which fits easily inside your loaf tin for storing, and means that the liners stay clean and dust free until you are ready to use them.
They are just so quick and easy to use, just pop one inside your loaf tin, pour your batter in and bake.
When your cake is done it is really easy to lift it out of the tin as the liner comes a little way above the tin so you just need to grasp the edges of the liner and lift it out. The liners come away easily from your cake once it is cool.
I can't believe that once upon a time I would grease and then flour a loaf tin, and then hope the cake wouldn't stick and hope that it would come out of the tin in one piece. Or insert greaseproof paper into the tin that I'd painstakingly and time consumably measured and cut to size, to find that the batter seeped under the folded edges of the paper. None of that any more, pop one of the loaf tin liners in and we are good to go!
Perfect, brilliant, what more can I say! Read the complete review |
