Advantages: makes clothes smell fresh, clothes are softer, really does make ironing easier

Disadvantages: cap tends to drip if you use it as a measuring device as recommended

Ironing + Emm = grumpy so and so!

It is with the greatest of pleasure that I am going to tell you about Lenor easy iron! Having been used to using Bounce in my tumble dryer for too many years, and being more than happy with its ‘fabric softening’ skills. I was gutted when I was unable to use it in my new home, purely and simply because my dryer had ceased to function!

I struggled for a couple of days, trying in vain to wrestle clothes that resembled boards into some semblance of their former selves, and suffering towels that would serve better as brillo pads. In desperation I turned to the supermarket shelves to see if they could offer something to solve my clothes worries.

Amongst the array of fabric enhancers and softeners I found Lenor easy iron in a one litre blue plastic bottle. The only reason this one particularly stood out, was it was 99p reduced from £1.59 always one for a bargain I chucked it in the trolley and away I went skeptical about how it could make my ironing easier!

Lenor easy iron comes in a selection of four fragrances, Spring Awakening, Carnival Passion, Summer Breeze and Oriental Blossom. I choose the Spring awakening fragrance as I felt it smelt the best of the selection, some smelt like something you would clean the loo with!

To use the fabric softener pour the required amount into the special part of the drawer designed to hold your chosen fabric conditioner. There are guidelines on the bottles as to how much to use; 140mls for ‘extra’ softness, 110,mls (cap and a half full) for ‘regular’ softness (one cap full) and for handwashing use 70mls per 10litres of water, (three quarters of the cap full). It does say on the bottle that one litre is enough to cover 9 regular washes. I have been using half a full cap full and have found the results more than adequate on a full load of washing. I did try using a full cap full, but found the scent a little too overpowering
, and could be smelt throughout the house!

Once your wash has finished, take it out and hang it on the line. You senses will be assailed by the lovely fresh scent from the fabric conditioner. Your clothes even when wet will feel softer and smell really fresh and clean.

Once your clothes have dried and you take them in for ironing/folding you will still be able to smell the Lenor. You can definitely tell the difference in the softness of the clothes also, jeans can no longer stand up by themselves, underwear no longer feels like cardboard when you put it on and towels are as soft and fluffy as tumble dried ones, so no need to fear bathtime anymore! One of the best things about Lenor easy iron is that clothes don’t have that ‘greasy’ feel that I used to experience with some other fabric conditioners – which is one reason I used to avoid it like the plague!

I have raved on about the scent and the fabric conditioning qualities of the fabric conditioner, so what about their other big claim, does it really make ironing easier? Well for someone who hates ironing, I now look forward to it in a bizarre kind of way! Yes you did read that right; I look forward to ironing! I recently washed my most hated table cloth. Not that I really hate it of course, it is just that it is pure cotton and an absolute nightmare to iron. It usually sits at the bottom of the ironing pile glaring accusingly at me! It took me about 60 seconds to iron it to perfection! I kid you not, this table cloth used to take me at least 10 minutes and sometimes longer to iron it how I like it. Not anymore! Jeans are a breeze too, taking seconds rather than minutes to iron. Another pain in the neck to iron are my uniforms – again these are a breeze to iron as are duvet covers and pillow cases. I have washed almost everything in the house now, to see if there is any material that Lenor easy iron can’t make ‘easy to iron’ and I have found
nothing at all!

Today I have put out towels that were washed two weeks ago using Lenor fabric softener and have found that they smell as fresh and clean as the day I put them away! This was something that my old Bounce fabric softener fell down on badly. After a couple of days the smell had vanished, just leaving soft clothes/towels. My whole airing cupboard smells of Lenor, my wardrobes and drawers do too, a definite bonus to the bottle.

Since using Lenor easy iron I have noticed no changes in condition to mine or my families skin, having two people in the house with sensitive skin I have to be careful about what washing products I use on the laundry. It is reassuring to know that Lenor is dermatologically tested and is kind to sensitive skin.

The only downside I have found with Lenor easy iron is the design of the cap and bottle. I have seen fabric softeners that have an ‘inner’ cap attached to the outer cap. Lenor just has a cap. This may not sound such as big deal, but if as is recommended you use the cap to measure your liquid out, you will find that you get drips down the side of your bottle when you replace the cap. I have found no imperfections in the product itself, so this I consider a minor flaw. Try it yourselves and see how much easier it is to iron, how much fresher and softer your clothes are after use.

Please also take into account that this product is manufactured by Procter & Gamble, who carry out a large amount of animal testing. Might be worth including, as this would put many people off buying it.

Good op, i love easy iron fabric conditioner, and when lenor is on special offer, i will buy some. At its normal price it is more expensive than own brands, so will have to wait till then!sean

Why did I read this? Now I'm thinking about that big bag of ironing that's waiting for me. Arrghh! Perhaps I should re-wash it all with Lenor first :-)
