Advantages: Leaves clothes feeling soft

Disadvantages: Scent doesn't last long

I was asked a while ago to test a new product from Lenor, it was a new range of fabric softeners. I didn't get this one to trial but really loved the one I received also with the product I got some money off vouchers so I decided to use them and try one of the others in the new range. I must explain about me and fabric softeners I really like ones that linger on the clothes after they are dried and ironed you see I have 2 boys and an other half and being the only girl in the house I like to sneak some nice smells into the house where I can! So did this one come up to scratch?

WHAT IS LENOR INFUSIONS?

The Lenor infusions range has been developed by a leading perfume house against existing fine fragrances, whilst maintaining the sumptuous softness of Lenor. The infusions range comes in four seductive fragrances:

Black diamond and lotus flower ... always elegant and sophisticated

Ruby Jasmine ... a little daring, lush and exotic

Sapphire Violet ... truly vibrant and exhilarating

Amethyst Rose ... a touch of mystery and excitement

Each one of the range is individual and unique, and should get into the fibres of the washing to stay keeping the washing smelling lovely and keeping it soft even in hard water areas.
It seems that Lenor have gone all out to create this product, their website has loads of information on the research behind the thinking for the range. Including the results of smell tests and how stimulating the brain becomes when having a sniff of each of the new fragrances. They are also seeming to compare this product with perfume, giving lots of tips on where to apply perfume and the effects of different scents. To be honest I can't see me putting any of the Lenor fragrances on my neck but each to his own!!! They have really pushed this product and I must admit they do look more upmarket than the usual brands of fabric softener and the idea behind them all is really good, so how did this one compare to the black diamond and lotus flower which was the one I first tried?

PACKAGING

As I have said this range does look more upmarket than the norm, the bottle of this particular one is ruby red in colour with a silver lid. It looks very understated with just the Lenor name written in silver and a picture of a jasmine flower with a ruby next to it. On the back you are told you will be seduced by the lush, exotic fragrance and sumptuous softness of Lenor ruby jasmine.

USING

Now I always add more fabric softener to more wash than the company recommends but only because I really want the clothes to actually smell of it after washing and ironing but with the previous one I tried I really didn't have to as the recommended amount was enough and the clothes smelt lovely. The directions for this one tell you that 1 cap full will be enough so for the first try that's what I used, the first time I used it was on my bedding (didn't want to waste it on the boys clothes!).

When I first opened it I had a real good sniff seeing as this was sold on the fragrance I took more time sniffing it than I would usually, the other half was looking at me as though I was mad! I did try explaining why but saw that glazed look in his eyes and knew he had switched off!!
I was expecting to be as impressed as I was with the Lotus flower one but to be honest I was disappointed don't get me wrong it smelt nice but that's about it really it was nice. To me it didn't smell exotic but sweeter and more floral with a touch of musk I could smell the jasmine but that was about it really. I really hoped that it would be different after using,

I followed the recommendation and just used 1 cap full and waited for the washing and drying to finish, and that's when I realized my disappointment was complete. Don't get me wrong the bedding was soft but that lovely lingering fragrance that was present with the Lotus flower was sadly missing with this one. If I had a real good sniff I could slightly smell the jasmine but it was not strong the other half was pleased because he didn't have to sleep in a girlie smelling bed!

I then decided to try it on my towels and went back to my old habits of adding a bit more than the recommendation but to be honest there really wasn't that much difference again they did feel softer which is quite good especially as I do live in a hard water area but the lingering scent I was waiting for was missing, with the Lotus flower the scent from the washing filled the house as it was drying but I could smell this one if I walked past the clothes horse but that was about it. Also the Lotus flower one seemed to last on my clothes and i get a gentle waft all through the day but i really couldn't smell this one really on anything i washed with it.

I did use the bottle up as I felt it would be a waste and it did make the washing softer but overall I wasn't that impressed with this one, which was a shame as the other one was much better.
I had also better add that none of us in the house had any adverse skin reactions to this product.

PRICE

The bottles are 1.5L and 750ml, 1.5L is around £3.59 and the 750ml is around £1.99, they are more expensive than the usual Lenor fabric softeners but I suppose you would expect to pay more for that extra fragrance.

INGREDIENTS

5-15% Cationic Surfactants, Benzisothiazolinone, Perfumes, Amyl Cinnamal, Coumarin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone.

This is a Proctor and Gamble product responsible for other brands including fabreze, pampers, olay, max factor and bounty to name but a few.

WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN?

You won't be surprised if I say no! I must admit I did find this product made my washing softer than the usual fabric softeners but it really didn't impress me as much as the Lotus flower one. If you are going to try any of the range then please try the Lotus flower first and not this one. I will try the rest in the range as I still have some coupons left but I really am not expecting much to be honest and to be truthful I am not sure if I would pay the full price for the range. I would look out for special offers, to sneak nice smells into my house and on my monsters!!!

I'm a bit obsessed with softeners too! They've got to leave a decent amount of scent on the washing otherwise I swap for something else!

I loved the lotus flower one i was sent to try out. The names are probably better than the products!
