**Blush ** The first kiss of the night... Not the first line from a Mills and Boon novel, rather it is the name of Lily Flame candle.
I first came across Lily Flame candles in John Lewis, one lunchtime when I was mooching around the candle section with a friend. About a month later it was my birthday and my friend bought this Lily Flame candle, remembering that I had liked them in the shop.
Lily Flame candles come in a rather smart looking tin. The "blush" version's tin is gold and pale pink coloured and very feminine looking. On opening the tin one gets a waft of a sweet flowery smell and is greeted by a rather pretty light pink candle decorated with lumps of darker pink and white chunks of wax, which look like those small marshmallows you get on top of hot chocolate floating in a blancmange. It's a very girly candle, pink and cute, my husband hated it!
The wick is easy to light and the candle burns down evenly. The guide on the tin says it lasts for about 35 hours, I didn't count the hours but it does last for a very long time, I was using it for months. On lighting the scent starts to quickly diffuse from the tin. It smells quite flowery, maybe like sweet pea with a hint of candy floss in there too. After the candle has been blown out the scent stays in the room for a while.
John Lewis have a selection of Lily Flame candles and I have since bought a second candle with the scent of "warm welcome" which was very nice too. They are quite expensive, around £8.50 but they do looks very good quality and make a good gift for female friends.
Lily flame candles make great gifts for friends and family or they can be little indulgent treats that you get for yourself. The quality of the candles are usually really good quality however I had a few problems with this one. The scent is great, so fun and bubbly. The downside was that the wick broke and I lost a lot of the candle.
==Price and availability==
The candle retails at £8.99 but you can buy it online for around £5 - £6 on Ebay so this is a really good price for such a good smelling candle. £8.99 is around average for a scented candle when you compare it with Yankee or other similar brands. You can buy the candle from card shops, garden centres and gift shops. The fact that the candle comes in a tin makes the candle a little bit more worth the price. It looks like it is worth the money.
The candle comes in a silver tin with a pull off lid. The fact that the candle comes with a lid really appeals to me as it looks much cleaner when the candle is not in use. The candle has the words blush written on the side. The dimensions of the candle are around 7cm x 6 cm so it is quite thick and tall with a burn time of 35 hours. However I did not get this length of time out of my candle.
When I first opened the candle I was really impressed with the gorgeous scent. It is so unique; girlie and fresh that awakens the senses. It smells sweet like candy floss with a delicate blend of cherry and deliciously inviting rose. I think the scent smells wonderful and it smells nothing like anything I have come across before. With other brands of scented candle I find the aromas are quite similar where as these are different and you really get to showcase your personality with these very individual candles.
When I first lit the candle, I was pleased to find that the scent got stronger when I burned it and the wax melted. It was strong enough to make the room smell delicious.
When I went to light the candle on the third occasion, there was only a really small amount of the candle burned so I was looking forward to experiencing it lit again. As I held the match to the wick, a crazy thing happened and the wick snapped off leaving a very small amount of wick showing. It was too small to light and despite me trying to dig away some of the wax, I could not save the candle. I had to throw it away which was really disappointing. I was really cross but this is not a common problem with the Lily Flame candles as on speaking to friends they have not had any issues.
I would recommend this candle for the gorgeous scent but the fact the wick snapped ruined it for me.
Delicate floral aroma in pretty packaging.
