Advantages: Cleans well, no nasties

Disadvantages: Pricey

I'm a big fan of Method products for their general lack of nasties, being naturally derived products which, according to the blurb on the bottle are "people-freindly, skin-friendly, lung-friendly". That aside most of the range is pretty good at cleaning too. This particular product like all in the Method products is a little pricey at £4.00 or thereabouts for 354ml, but I do find a little goes a long way, and a bottle of this will last me about 6 months or more.

This cleaner is used by spraying a little onto a cloth and wiping with the "grain" of the steel. It does actually say on the bottle to use sparingly, and I would say from experience to do so, or you will have to polish for longer.

It brings the stainless steel up to a very nice shine and does clean effectively, according to the manufacturer's website it also leaves a protective layer. The odour is not unpleasant, it smells a bit soapy on use but doesn't leave your stainless steel smelling particularly.

I first came across this product when I had a very hard to clean Stoves range oven. Prior to owning this I hadn't realised that there were grades of stainless steel - apparently this must have been a lower grade as it was a nightmare to try and clean and keep streak free. This was the only thing I found that was anyway up to the job, I discovered it in John Lewis who were the first people to stock this relatively new range, which has been in the UK since 2006 but is actually an American brand invented by two men. The ethos of the company is "people against dirt", nice non-gender bias there and when my husband actually participates in the drudgery he likes these products too.

You will now find this available more widely, it is stocked by many supermarkets and can be found in Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose.

The silver steel-looking bottle is actually recyclable, in keeping with the company's kind to the planet policy, though the spray top is not.

This is great to use on hobs, oven fronts and extractor hoods. Let's face it cleaning is never going to be fun but products that help you do the job as quickly as possible leaving time for more interesting things have got to be good, and when they are people and planet friendly too that is a bit of a bonus. I have given the product 4 stars only due to the price, hopefully that will go down a little as the products are more widely available. This is a good product that does exactly as it says on the bottle, it cleans and polishes and leaves steel streak free. Recommened.

Summary: Really effective product
