Yankee Candle Midsummers Night
Advantages: Strong smell that fills the house, true to it's description.
I'm a huge fan of Yankee Candles, they are by far the best scented candles on the market. The scents are always true to their descriptions and not at all chemically. If it says it's lemon by god it will smell of fresh real lemons. The scent goes through the whole candle too unlike some cheap scented candles so you will smell the same strong scent right up until the very end. You just can't beat Yankee Candles.
Midsummer's Night is one of my favorite scents and I keep buying it again and again. I've had this one in both the large 22oz full size jar and the small wax tarts. I buy my Yankee candles online because not many places where I live sell it and the few that do have a very limited range. Online for the full size 22oz jar I paid £17 and for the wax tart I paid 99p per tart. That's the usual price for Yankee in my experience but you can get some fantastic offers and mega packs at www.yankeedoodle.co.uk.
Midsummer's Night is described by Yankee as having an intoxicating and provocative fragrance with a masculine blend of musk, patchouli, sage and mahogany cologne to create an lush and inviting atmosphere. This sums up the fragrance that this candle produces perfectly. It smells exactly like aftershave which I love! It's one of their stronger fragrances and when lit the house is filled with the lovely aftershave scent. I like to put mine on in the evening with the lights off and a few candles going. It's quite a nigh time romantic heady scent. If you like men's aftershave you'll love this.
If you buy the tart you'll need a tart burner to burn this because they have no wick. The tarts are placed in the top of the tart burner and a tea light is lit underneath which then heats the tart and melts it into a pool of highly scented liquid. I usually get about 3 burns from a tart before it loses it's fragrance. I pop the tea light on and leave the tart on until the tea light burns out which is usually about an hour and a half. The scent still lingers in the air for hours afterwards as well. Once the tea light burns out the liquid cools down and solidifies. After 3 burns you'll notice the scent fades so it's time to switch it for a fresh tart. To get the wax out there's not need to chip away at it or anything. Just let the wax harden then pop the whole burner into the freezer for about 20 minutes and when you take it out the wax just slides out in one solid piece.
If you go for a jar candle trim the wick with a pair of scissors before each burn. This helps the candle burn longer and more evenly. Unlike cheap jar candles that burn down the middle leaving loads of unused wax round the sides these burn evenly all round so there's no waste.
Summary: One of my faves!
