Advantages: quick, easy and cheap !

Disadvantages: noe

Towards the end of my pregnancy I, like eveyone, had to think about all the things I needed after my baby as born. One of the most important things was how was I going to sterilise the feeding bottles etc. I was drawn in to start with by all the new devices available. I looked at the new microwaveable ones and thought thats what I would go for. But a friend who had recently had twins told me not to bother but to go with good old fashioned cold serilising with Milton Tablets. She gave me an unused sterilising container with all the bits that come with it.
It's so easy ! you just get into a routine, choose what time of day you are going to make up the fluid (you need to change it every 24 hours) thats all you do !- fill the container with the correct amount of water add a tablet then once its dissolved put in your bottles and anything else you need to sterilise. The new Milton Tablets only take 15 mins to do the job so if your in a rush then these are ideal. I find Milton Tablets so easy to use as it only takes a mater of 1 or 2 minutes and its hassle and mess free ! You don't need to rinse the bottles afterwards (obviously that would defeat the object) as the made up fluid has no taste to your baby. These tablets are very cheap and are available in most/all chemists and supermarkets.

Summary: stick tothe old fashioned way

We used milton in the baby unit at the nursery I worked in and I hated the smell, I preferred to use a steam one for Toby, and was done in 8 minutes. Nicola x

I never used these but I kind of wish I had been more aware of them. I could have put them in the cupboard for emergencies. Still, with my little girl, being a first time mum, I used the microwave steam steraliser religiously. If I had another baby I wouldnt be so uptight! Sarahx
