Minky premium peg bag
It's amazing how many bits and pieces I found I needed when setting up home from scratch. With spring and summer on the way there would be lots of hanging out of clothes so a peg bag was a must.
This peg bag costs £4.50 and as well as being available in larger supermarkets it can also be bought online at www.minky.co.uk.
The peg bag is advertised as being water resistant and durable to help keep pegs dry. It is nice and thick and having used it for a while, it is indeed waterproof and I get no soggy pegs lying at the bottom of the bag. There is a flap over the opening and then a Velcro fastening keeps it closed so that if I leave it on the line and its windy, the pegs don't go flying all over the place. Whilst the opening into the bag isn't very big, it's big enough to get my hand in and to get out the pegs. I suppose the opening is purposely made quite snug to keep the pegs inside the bag.
It hangs via a plastic coat hanger which is better than a metal hanger as it doesn't rust and is very durable. However, this design, which is found on lots of peg bags, for me isn't the best. Whilst the pegs stay inside the bag, when its windy, the whole bag can come flying off the line. For this reason, I always hang it at the side of a wall.
The design, as the title suggests, is a pebble design, greys and black in colour and quite natural looking and attractive.
This is a durable well made peg bag which serves its purpose well. I have yet to find the perfect peg bag but I can certainly say its better than the basket type and the cloth ones which seem to go mouldy. Whilst I wouldn't leave it out during the winter, for normal drying weather, it has served me well. I can hold about 50 pegs in the bag with ease as I don't want it overloaded and get them out easily for my pegging.
The bag also survives a wash at the end of " the season" so I can keep it fresh and clean.
A good value well designed peg bag
