“ Brand: Monsoon / Type: Candle / Category: Home Fragrance „
I always have a look at the products in the monsoon sale , and this time was no exception when I picked up several fragranced candles.
This candle was reduced from £9 down to £4.50, so although not the cheapest candle at full price, I have had the Monsoon candles before and find they have a long burning time. This one is no exception and promised 40 hours of burning time; I didn't count the hours as I burned it over several weeks, but it certainly wasn't far off and did burn right to the bottom so there was no waste. It is available to buy in Monsoon stores and also online.
The candle comes in a small pot about the size of a plastic glass and it looks like a decorated plastic glass. This was a bit worrying when I first saw it as I thought it wouldn't be very sturdy but when I actually picked it up, it is a solid container and obviously suitable for the job. The outside of the container is covered in a floral design, but rather than a small ditsy print, these are large oriental looking flowers in full bloom. The candle itself is white and since the hot wax has obviously been poured into the container it fills the container completely up to about two thirds up.
The scent is described as a mix of pink hydrangea rose jasmine with grapefruit, bergamot and fresh green leaves. When I light the candle, it takes some time for the full aroma to be smelt but when it does start, I can't distinguish any one particular smell, but rather it is a floral mix. It's very pleasant and strong enough to make the room smell fresh but not so strong that it becomes overpowering.
When extinguished, and after burning for some time the amount of wax obviously reduces but the wick stays where it should and there isn't a surplus of melted wax to contend with.
I have been pleased with both the smell and longevity of this candle. It is pricey at full price but in the half price sae it does become a bit of a bargain. I wil definitely be treating myself to a couple more as well as trying some of the other "flavours".
