I always love a bargain and when I currently have a couple of rooms work in progress if I can get something that I want a little bit cheaper than the norm then I am really happy about that. One room in my house that I hadn't planned on doing something straight away was my bathroom, its always been one of those rooms that I have managed to put up with and have been relatively happy with it, however recently I had got it into my head that I wanted to have a revamp and to start off with I want to have a new floor in there.

Previously I had had carpet and in a bathroom, carpet is not ideal so I had decided that I wanted it tiled. Its not a great big bathroom to be honest and you can tile the whole bathroom floor with just 4 square metres but when on a budget because other rooms in the house take priority the cheaper the better is my motto.

Having shopped around, to be honest I hadn't come across anything that I really liked and floor tiles are not the cheapest of things however as a last resort, purely because they are not doing too well in tghis current climate I decided to take a look in Homebase to see what they had to offer.

The hOmebase local to me doesn't really carry a great deal of stock however I did come across the Montana Floor tile which did catch my eye instantly because it was the same colour as I was looking for and looked pretty nice, as i wandered up to display what ade it even more appealing was the price and that it was well under my budget and the tiles were just £4.99 for a bbox of 9 tiles that cover 1 metre squared which meant I could tile my floor for just £20 plus adhesive and grout which is a fabulous price at the end of the day.

When you lay these tiles depending on your bathroom, if it lets plenty of light in the tile looks a lot lighter in colour than it actually is if you hold one up in the shop. It is crossed by a light terracotta / beige and when layed looks like a creamy beige with a slight mottled effect.

The tiles themselves are not flimsy, for the price of £4.99 a box, you don't expect too much however I had no problems at all when the tiles were cut with an electric tile cutter and no damages whilst this was done.

As these are layed in the bathroom, which gets steamy when used, I guess this is down to how they are layed but with all the excess steam I had no problems at all with the tiles coming loose as you do sometimes and have a perfect bathroom floor, all for under £50.

If you are looking for bargain these are certainly it, they are attractive to look at and blend in with a whole range of border and wall tiles which makes the rest of your bathroom easy to complete if you decide to purchase these.

I bought these in January and initially thought they were in a January sale however they are still available in store and still on there website for the same price. Great buy in this current climate.
