Morrisons Value Sponge Scourers
Advantages: cheap, effective, durable
Disadvantages: nothing really
As with other supermarkets, Morrisons offer a basic range of products. In this case, this range is the Savers range. This range includes lots of cleaning products and today I will focus on the Sponge Scourers.
Presented in a simple, clear plastic wrapper is a stack of five scourer sponges. These scourer sponges can be used with detergent for cleaning jobs or alongside washing up liquid for doing the dishes. It is advised that you do not used them on non-stick cookware.
A pack of 5 sponge scourers is currently priced at 19p in Morrisons.
I have been doing my shopping in Morrisons for the past month or so as I was taking advantage of a voucher deal. I normally shop in Tesco/Asda. I always stock up on the cheapest sponges scourers and the Savers pack is the same price as the other leading supermarkets. They do look a little different though as they are yellow sponges with a green scourer top as opposed to white sponges.
These sponge scourers are very basic but they fit their intended purpose perfectly well. I use them mainly for doing my dishes. The sponges are well made and the two coloured parts are neatly attatched to each other. They are a standard, scourer sponge size and very easy to hold whilst in use. I find these sponge scourers to be very effective at removing food stains and marks on my dishes. The soft sponge end is perfect for wiping over dishes and leaving them sparkly whilst the green, scourer end is firm enough to scrape away and burnt on or stubborn stains without scratching my plates.
These sponge scourers hold liquid well and combined with a drop of washing up liquid, a good amount of bubbles are created. They rinse well too and whilst I tend to throw a used scourer sponge away at the end of the day, I find that they cope with washing a lot of dishes without becoming damaged or badly stained. These sponge scourers are also ideal for cleaning around my home and I used them on my toilet, work surfaces, around my sink/bath etc. They work perfectly alongside an all purpose spray and remove any watermarks or dirt with less hassle when compared to plain cloth.
These sponge scourers represent great value for money. The price has risen by about 5p over the past few months but this is common in all supermarkets. I find that these sponge scourers fit in nicely with my household cleaning tasks and do not fall apart under pressure. They do not look particularly special or exciting but as they are stored under my sink, I have no issues with this. I do not feel the need to pay high prices for something which I consider a 'throwaway' product. They do not perform any better or any worse than other store brands but they cost the same. I do not like to have germs breeding within a sponge scourer so would rather pay cheap prices and dispose of them.
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: less than 20p a pack!
